We've eaten here 2 times during this week's narrow boat trip up - coming and going. Fantastic burgers on Saturday and great steak on Wednesday. (I'm a Texan, but the burger might have been the best I've ever had!) When I asked for a second pot of tea, I received a BIG pot, not another small one. If you're in a hurry, the staff might be slower than desired, but if you arrive by narrowboat, they are cute young people and take just enough time.

Myself and my family had the most lovely meal last night - I had the goats cheese salad for starter followed by the sirloin steak and every mouthful was just delicious! My Aunty had the T-bone steak, and my brother had the prawn cocktail and smoked salmon starter, followed by the chicken breast with mushroom sauce. It was all wonderful! And definitely reasonably priced for the great quality food. Can't wait to bring my hubby for T-bone steak! Beautiful pub with lovely traditional atmosphere and tasty menu

We happened on this pub while on a long car journey, set close to the bridge over the Oxford Canal, close to Aynho. There's a good sized car park and inside it's modern country style decor. Very friendly staff and clearly popular with locals. We only stopped for a beer and a coffee, but the food offering looked good, and it was a surprise to see they also had accommodation. It'd be a lovely spot for walking along the canal. Hook Norton ales on the bar (4-5 I think) and the coffee was excellent.

We took the detour on our travels for lunch based on Google reviews and were not disappointed. A very broad and interesting menu, including smaller plates for those seeking lighter meals, and all cooked to perfection and served with a smile by our attentive host. And such a great location, set between the canal and a couple of railway lines, with railway memorabilia adorning the walls inside. Much to like!

Had a superb lunch with the old folks at GWA yesterday. The food was hot and fresh cooked and portion sizes were great! Fish and chips (with upgraded "Duck" chips - must be tried!) was light and tasty and melt in the mouth perfection. By all accounts, from my fellow diners, the Lamb burger was also spectacular. Decent range of desserts and a great canal side location made it a great lunch venue. Book or arrive early as it gets, justifiably, busy!

We are on holiday from cornwall, holidaying on a boat, our first stop for tea this evening was here, and it didn't disappoint! We had nacho starters, pork main, which was amazing! And rhubarb crumble and custard, all gluten free! Was also impressed that I could have a gluten free beer,as not many pubs do them! 5* ,if we have time.on our way back home,we may pop in again!

4 of us went for a birthday meal tonight, service was really polite, friendly and efficient, food was served in good time even though the place was busy everything was really fresh and delicious. Same prices as any country pub and plenty of it. Will 100% be back to eat . Top tip.. burgers /onion rings are amazing!

We went to the great western at really short notice after being let down by another pub, when they realised it was a special anniversary celebration they were able to get us a table and the communication was fantastic. On the day the had a great table, the staff were all super friendly. There was no faffing with food as it was already pre booked and within 20 mins were were eating. The Sunday roast was fantastic as were the children’s meals, and desert was just as good. We will absolutely be returning. The staff were brilliant and nothing was to much trouble Thank you GW

Visited today, at lunchtime, to try the GWA for the first time. Service was extremely prompt and friendly. Choice of food was exceptional. Quality and taste was superb, plus they served rhubarb crumble which is a personal favourite. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
