Delighted to find this little tea shop open in February, between Storms Ciara and Dennis, we stepped inside to a warm welcome and surprisingly large menu. Wishing we'd not had a big cooked breakfast at our B & B I chose one of the many varieties of loose tea available - a British blend of Cornish (!) and Assam tea while my husband was pleased to find a pot of decaffinated coffee available. I couldn't resist a spicy toasted teacake while we enjoyed reading about the history of the mill on a laminated sheet. The Wifi code was on the table and was fast enough for me to upload the photos I'd taken of the Falls. Prices are extremely reasonable and we wish this lovely little cafe the success it deserves.
We called in during the recent storms to a wamr welcome, we had a lovley cup of tea and the cakes were wonderfull - Even the dog enjoyed his biscuit!
Love to go for afternoon tea and this place did not disappoint . Freshly made sandwiches of your choice from the menu , choice of three scones ,three tray bakes and mini homemade meringue . Even l couldn't manage to eat it all ! Lovely little box provided to carry the left overs home in . Can't wait to go again
Great tea shop - friendly, warm and welcoming and a very good menu for food and drinks. The food is very good quality and the staff are really nice, so it’s a perfect spot to stop and recharge your batteries after pottering around the local waterfalls. Definitely recommend the Welsh Rarebit 👍
Stopped off here after a walk to Aysgarth Falls with the dog. Lovely little cafe with a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, for the dog too! The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. We will return if we're in the area again!
Superb food, superb service,so friendly, staying in Aysgarth in march can’t wait to go back, just as good as the falls👍
Wow wow wow, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. My husband had there amazing Welsh rabbit. This not only looks amazing & was huge but it smelt fantastic. Customers were asking what the dish was as it smelt so great.
I went for the gluten free cheese scone, followed by gf fruit scone - they really are the simply the best GF scones you will ever find. They are so good I bought an extra 10 to take home with me & the lovely owners who make everything themselves have agreed to posting a regular supply to me 🥰.
This cafe is perfectly positioned for you to visit the amazing Aysgarth Falls
Had planned to visit the tea room after our little walk, which turned out to be just over 8 miles so we were absolutely starving and the thought of afternoon tea kept us going! We had to wait a little while for our food but it was worth the wait. Afternoon tea x 2, a meat/pie platter and an all day breakfast bap - everything was just perfect. Even the coffee was lovely, very smooth. Went back the next day for take out treacle tart, which again was amazing. And took home some flapjack for the kids, which ... you guessed it, amazing! I'm so glad I don't live close by as I would be in there every day. Excellent value for money - I would even say you could put your prices up slightly and still be reasonable (esp takeout). I can't praise you enough!!!
Recommended by our daughter who holidayed in Yorkshire during the summer. What a find! Great little tea shop, lovely local lady serving who happily chatted and imparted local info about how best to see The Falls.
Had the afternoon tea, more of a full on meal than a mid afternoon snack. Absolutely scrumptious. So much food we boxed some and took it away with us. Definitely a must do if in the area.
Gorgeous old fashioned tea rooms. Perfect retreat after a good walk.
Lovely welcoming staff.
So pleased to have visited here and that our dog was welcome inside too. Lovely food, friendly and welcoming staff and my hubby had a huge ice cream that beat him as he couldn't eat it all!
If ever we are out that way again we will certainly pay you another visit.
Lovely teashop nicely decorated inside. Pleny of seating. Massive choice of cakes and other goodies. The cherry and almond scone was to die for and was warm! The coffee was hot and plentiful in a caffetiere. Definitely worthy of a visit.
Spectacular setting by waterfalls in old mill. Very helpful friendly service. Good coffee and toast with excellent jam. Nice decor. Thoroughly recommend the walk down the river afterwards. Good day out!
Visited on Halloween, the chocolate brownie was to die for. This was our second visit to this tea room and won’t be our last.
We came to millrace tea shop, for a family catch up today! 5 of us had the afternoon tea, which was fantastic & great value for money!! We even took a box of cakes home with us too!!
As always excellent quality, generous portions, tasty food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
We popped in while walking through Aysgarth and all tables were full, but so glad we waited... was well worth it! Such excellent value for money. Hot ginger and pear cake to die for, raspberry and white chocolate cake also delish. Super friendly service! We have already been back again and will no doubt be in again before we leave the area.
This is the sort of place that I always hope to find but rarely do...… Had I not read the reviews on T/A I might have passed it by, because the fabulous location right beside the falls might have suggested to me that it was a tourist trap - far from it !
The first thing that hits you is the smell of baking - followed by the warmth of the welcome. From there it just gets better. I had the quiche which was very very tasty and Mr G had the chicken salad - generous portion of perfect chicken and the salad with both was excellent. We also had a cream scone and a brownie with ice cream. The scone was huge, light and fluffy but the absolute star was the brownie. Honestly it was one of the nicest things I have put in my mouth for ages ( and I'm really greedy, so I try lots of things). We washed it all down with an endless pot of tea. There are a few things for sale so we snapped up some of the salad dressing ( it is superb, had some today) and a bit of caramel shortbread that is nearly as good as the brownie.
It is a good thing I live some distance away - if this place were easily accessible I would go daily ! The only downside is that it is some way from a car park for someone with limited mobility.
Decided to stop after visiting the top falls. So glad we did, great cup of tea to start with. Then we thought well we are in Yorkshire so we had the fruit cake and wensleydale cheese combination. It was really tasty, the fruit cake was moist, the cheese was crumbly- it was a delicious treat.
This was a chance encounter as we returned from visiting the Falls. And what a delight it turned out to be !
Although there was an extensive menu, we went for the traditional cream tea. The homemade scones (a choice of cranberry & orange as well as fruit !), were simply delicious !!
The venue had a warm, cosy and inviting atmosphere and the service from the staff was efficient and friendly.
