Great gin selection, friendly owners, good food. Small, local pub feel. The owners are fairly new, so there are a few teething problems, but the atmosphere is welcoming and authentic. And the gin selection is very impressive. Good to see they have the local 1837 gin amongst the rest.
Probably the best Yorkshire pudding ever! Delicious traditional food and delightful staff. Highly recommended with dog friendly area too.
Haven't been for about 4 years but good to see the same team running it. Has a good menu, including rabbit pie, which you don't see very often. Nice selection of beer. Has a rrasonable sized car park opposite and a nice garden to the side. Booking recommended. Not to be confused with The Eyre Arms a
Lovely place, excellent food (they can cook a steak properly and the truffle mash is absolutely gorgeous), good selection of beers and about a gazillion gins for the gin freaks! Not cheap, but very, very good food. And the place itself is cosy, dare I say even quaint, and friendly. Helpful and frien
Lovely old pub with lots of character. The staff that served us were friendly and welcoming. The food was good - solid pub grub, exactly what you want in this area with all the picturesque walks. Decent selection and quality of beers.
We loved this pub. Good staff and great food.
This was the first time we have been and we will indefinitely go again. The Sunday roast was delicious and food was home cooked (no frozen veg in sight). The young couple who are running this pub and their staff were all very welcoming and made sure our visit was a comfortable one. I would highly re
A very nice and picturesque country pub on the outside and very quaint and old-fashioned inside, which you would expect from a 17th century inn. The landlord and staff are very welcoming and friendly. It is also a dog friendly pub, although they are restricted to the tap room which is understandable
The way a country pub should be. Roaring files small bars and cosy snugs. Friendly staff and great food. The staff are always accomodating and when I've turned up after a muddy walk with 3 kids and a dog in tow and the staff are always welcoming. I will keep returning.
This is a great little pub that benefits from not being run of the mill decor that's new made to look old. It actually is old. Great beer and selection of bar snacks including pigs in blankets. Yum Dog friendly
Had a great evening last week with really good food. Also, staff were super friendly which brought us back the next night. No regrets! Will definitely pop in to say hi next time I'm in the area.
Been here twice on Peak District breaks and the food is quite simply excellent. Game, steak and fish all cooked to perfection. Great host and great atmosphere. Recommend highly.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. New, very friendly, hosts took over, two weeks ago and are trying really hard to preserve the old atmosphere, whilst putting their own slant on things. Also, they don't close in the afternoons now. 👍
Stopped for a quick lunch after a long walk. Delicious sandwich and great chips in a beautiful pub with nice garden to enjoy the sun. Staff were very friendly. Definitely would recommend.
Quaint country pub, extensive wine list, good, tasty food. A crowd of 8 of us, beautiful burgers, fab fish & chips, perfect pie and delish local sausages and mash with green veg medley We all thoroughly enjoyed!
Lovely cosy traditional pub with roaring fire.Had Sunday lunch.Best Yorkshire pudding ever.Pork with perfect crackling.tasty gravy roasties and plenty of veg .Craig was really friendly, helpful and looked after us.
Food excellent. Staff polite and attentive. A lovely setting, beer garden well set out attractive and maintained. A friendly and relaxed atmosphere greets you
After a good day in the hills myself and my brother actually passed this pub and gone to one of the same name just down the road. We quickly came back and I am very glad we did. This sounds like I might be dabbling in hyperbole, but I can honestly say this is one of the best pubs in England. Its an
