Great fish and chips, great atmosphere, lovely little place..... Just be prepared to sell a kidney. Fish and chips is pricey these days. Definitely not a reflection on this wonderful place, just a small fact of life, prices are going up!!

We were favoured with another very nice meal of perfectly cooked best quality Cod and Chips last Wednesday.
So pleased Malting Restaurant in Baldock is now up the the excellent standards that Paul Taylor worked to. Now also the whole shop is improved to a very high standard, with the very good practical layout.
The Proprietor has a very clear desire to see his customer's well fed and fully satisfied, his team of assistant's are all very kindly respectful and nice.
A few days later we had take away of Regular Cod and Chips which we enjoyed eating them in our car. They were perfectly cooked highest quality and presented in a most convenient box, so we could eat from it as it sat nicely on our car seat tables.

Lovely chips and great Saveloys, was my go-to for lunch whilst stationed in Baldock on the Prince's Trust. Staff are friendly and there is a nice little seating area upstairs too.

Myself and my partner enjoyed a lovely meal here. We dined in , service was impeccable, all the the staff were friendly. Food was great.

I remember this Fish & Chip shop when it was called Cliff Taylor's and was the best for miles around. People including me used to drive from Royston to buy their food. Sadly I don't think its anywhere as good as it was in the mid 1970's but thats progress and inflation!!

Brilliant gluten free options on a Thursday and Saturday.
Tried it for the first time this week - really clear labelling, staff being careful about cross contamination, and more importantly it was delicious!
Great to have a gluten free vegetarian option too with the halloumi.
We'll be back!

Stunningly good fish and chips at a bargain price. Pukka pies also served. Restaurant is upstairs, it isn't fancy, but a really great place. I last came here 20 years ago, and if anything, it is better. No greasy chips here!

Decided to finally review this place. I learnt they won an award and went back after one year. It’s still really good but not the same. Oilier and portions have been reduced. Still better than anything else in baldock.
