Lovely location for camping. Small quiet field right by the pub. Quite secluded. Pub garden was lovely. Food could have been better but was edible. Staff were amenable.

A great pub, great friendly staff. A great campsite £10.00 without electric £25 with. Need wedges as slopes. Fabulous food. Within easy walking distance of Hook Norton and the Hook Norton Brewery

Went here for a Sunday lunch today and it was delicious! Table of 7 including children, the staff were so friendly and service was very efficient. Best roast any of us have had for a long time. Would absolutely recommend!

Other two pubs in Hook Norton that were recommended to us were fully booked on the night we discovered The Gate Hangs High. Amazing quality food and drink at very good prices, it's no surprise people rate this place so highly. It's definitely worth a visit if you like an old school traditional pub !

Lovely pub, great food and beer, very relaxed and quiet, lovely scenery and great walks despite the odd shower and wet ground at the time we stayed. The site drained well but was a little muddy but it wasnt a problem, we were prepared. Definitely staying again.

Heading back from Newbury yesterday and decided to call in for a rest and shandy. Missed out on the lunch food, but stayed a few hours with nice conversations between staff and locals/campers. So nice, I stayed until the evening and had the thoroughly enjoyable Windy’s pie of the day meal. We even talked about bikes! 😃👍🏻

We visited The gates hang high in our campervan, what a brilliant place, the landlord, staff and customers are very friendly and helpful. Due to the rain recently the field entrance was very boggy so we were given space in the car park away from the main parking area it couldn't have been better, to add to this the food is amazing and excellent value. We will return and we recommend it to fellow campers.

We were travelling from Ireland to enable me visit my old boarding school, Sibford, and staying locally and stumbled upon the Gate Hangs High, well how fortunate we were to have done so too. Luckily for my education I hadn't stumbled upon it 33 years ago!! 🤣 Wonderful little gem on a crossroad, so picturesque and tranquil and most welcoming and warm staff. We liked it so much we popped in the following day for a light bite to eat. The food was simply amazing - chapeau chef! Landlord (David I think) was engaging and happy to explain the name of the pub, most interesting story behind it; I won't say and I'll let you ask him when you visit! Many thanks for the experience. Top notch! 👍👌
