Stray Dog

Such a great place I get so sad when I see all the animals but LOVE seeing the little tags that say "I'm going home" happy to see so many actually being adopted!!❤ We just attended a reunion for the furr babies that came from Georgia our "GRACIE GIRL " came from there. We are SO THANKFUL to all whom were involved with her rescue we feel blessed to have her!!

Great place! Wonderful employees there and most are knowledgeable about the animals they have. They also have a pet pantry which is so beneficial to some people they offer cat and dog food. Sometimes they have stuff for other animals, sometimes they have toys, collars, and leashes you can get, sometimes they even have crates for puppy training.. great place

My mother and I visited the Bangor Humane society yesterday, on 3/21/2022. When we went in, I told the girl that we would like to see what dogs they had for adoption. I was told I could see through the window, and feel free to go in either door also. I was not offered information, guidance, or even asked if I was interested in adopting, no offers of information on any dog or anything. TRUST ME, AFTER WHAT I WITNESSED, IF I COULD HAVE WALKED OUT WITH ALL THE DOGS I WOULD HAVE, and found them homes myself. We were there to witness "feeding" time. I was absolutely appalled at what I was watching. I girl scooping a couple scoops of dog food in a paper bag and dropping the bag into each kennel. Food, FED IN A BROWN PAPER BAG, and dropped in on piles of feces, without a word spoken to these poor dogs. ZERO interaction... ZERO! I watched as each dog chewed away at the paper bag, through feces and all, to get to their food. I had to wonder how long it would be before they were given any water, as the water dishes were empty. You sure can't throw that inside in a paper sack! I have never been so disgusted in a humane society in my life. With tears in our eyes, we had to leave, we couldn't watch any more. I am sorry that I have ever donated to this humane society! Absolutely Disgusted with this behavior. My heart went out to each of those poor dogs. I CAN'T BELIEVE GOOGLE REQUIRES TO LEAVE AT LEAST ONE STAR!

Was very disappointed today when we were barely greeted by a particular staff member who couldn’t even bother to look at us. After we inquired about a particular cat, this staff member rolled her eyes for a solid 5 seconds before responding that the cat was skittish (obviously, it was a stray that is now at a shelter) and that we would not be able to meet with it and a home with a small child would not be suitable (I had a child with me who she proceeded to glare at afterward). Not only was this staff member condescending, judgmental and rude, she didn’t even take the time of day to suggest other cats or even ask if the child I had with me was mine/lived in my home, nor did she ask about the environment the cat would be in (an entire separate story for this cat to avoid everyone else in until he warmed up if needed). I was shocked as I have adopted here before and had an excellent experience. I have worked with this establishment for years in different veterinary clinic settings and have always recommended them, but I will no longer be doing that. Reading some of these recent reviews, I am apparently not alone in this experience.

The staff is very standoffish and know nothing about the animals they have in there. Ask any type of question and they seem rude and put out for even bothering them. Every dog kennel in there had multiple piles of fesces and reeked. I felt so bad for the doggos in there. When I inquired about volunteers they said they were at max on staffing. I find this hard to believe and if so, then they need new staff that will actually tend to and care for these animals!

My family and I tried to see an older cat to see if the cat will take to my family or me and they said I need to fill out a Form and after I did they say I have 2 cats too many to even see this cat And I think the rule needs to change because this place is there to help the animals. It's not a store for selling
