We have just left this delightful place. I have been in a few times and it always seemed packed to the rafters. Tonight we managed to get in due to a quieter time after the school holidays and boy we were not disappointed.
The food choice was well thought out. I chose the Galloway platter which was a mix of smoked meats such as duck and venison. Very well presented and tasted very good but the prize goes to the main course.... the 8 oz Flat Iron Steak!!! Amazing. It was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. Yum yum. Bravo. Couldn't managed a pudding as the portion sizes were above adequate.
A very pleasant evening with real ale and good grub. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Thank you House O Hill we will be back.

Stopped at the campsite just up the road and made this our local during our stay. Lovely friendly staff, very welcoming and accommodating. Good selection of ales and spirits, lovely atmosphere, very relaxing. Starter of scallop, black pudding fritter and pork belly with a pea purée was delightful. Main course of venison pie, a proper pie with a bottom and a top! Skins on chips and veg, omg it was to die for. Eton mess for pud, top notch. What a little gem this place is, shame it’s so far away!! Thanks to Helen, Karen and the team.
