Very, very good café in Barnard Castle. Pleasant, efficient staff. Very clean. Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options available. Great tasting homemade food. Cakes are fabulous - best carrot cake I've ever had, from the first mouthful. Great tea selection, the lapsang souchong loose leaf was delicious, smoked and aromatic. I had the loaded potato skins with smoked applewood and caramelised red onion, served with garlic mayonnaise and house salad. All totally tasty, delicious and well presented. Recommended and would revisit. (No dogs)

Nice cafe but a little chaotic. Had to wait what seemed to be an eternity for a bacon and egg sandwich BUT the wait was well worth it. Very nice sandwich when it arrived. WOULD go back again.

Wonderful experience. Had Coronation afternoon tea with a friend to celebrate King Charles lll coronation. Food was really yummy and there wasn't one thing that could be faulted. The table was reserved, bone china crockery was already set on the table. Tea arrived in a silver colour teapot with extra water and milk. The service was perfect, we were asked if everything was ok but weren't bothered too much. We had a nice large table so had plenty of room. I would heartily recommend a visit and I will be returning.

I recently visited Clarendons Cafe in Barnard Castle with my family for breakfast and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the French toast with raspberries and the avocado with poached eggs, both of which were absolutely delicious. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, and the French toast was to die for. It was all extremely well presented. I wish I lived locally so I could visit more frequently! The overall value for the quality of the food and the service was excellent. The waitress was also lovely and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. My family also enjoyed their meals, and we all left feeling satisfied and ready to start our day. Overall, I highly recommend Clarendons Cafe for a delicious and satisfying breakfast. I cannot wait to visit again. Many thanks

Visited for the first time today, and it was a lovely experience. we received a warm welcome on arrival, and our party of 6 (plus a baby and toddler), really enjoyed our breakfasts. All the food was of high quality, very well presented and arrived quickly. We also thought it very good value. We will certainly visit again when we are back in the area. It ticked all the boxes, and would definitely recommend.

First time there. Grace looked after us and she was lovely. Polite, helpful and attentive. Good social distancing and good working practices. Asked for breakfast tea and came in a large pot with extra hot water. It was Taylor's tea, not a tea bag and was great. Had jacket potato with prawns. Good size potato and well cooked. The wife had avacado and prawns and again delicious. Then followed with a slice of carrot cake which the wife said was the best she had ever tasted. I had a fruit scone and that was a good size and very tasty. Will definitely be going back. All the staff seemed very professional and polite.

During our stay in England we stopped by this cute place to have lunch. Tea was great and our lunch options were all fantastic. I tried the jacket potato, and my wife one of the special salads of the day. We ate Upstairs and it did feel more cozy and quiet than downstairs tables. Also try one of their scones, they are great!
