Lovely place whether for a quiet drink or food. The staff are always smiley and pleasant. However, the main reason I'm writing this is for the chef. Quite often vegetarian options on a menu seem to be an afterthought, bland or just plain boring. This place however comes highly recommended for non-meat eaters. I've tried all veggie options on the menu and they're lovely, but on Mothering Sunday I had a mushroom and spinach Wellington and have to say it's right up there as one of the yummiest meals I've had in over 35 years of being vegetarian, certainly the best Sunday roast offering I've had :) If you could add a decent veggie burger to the menu that would be great but other than that keep it up :)
First visit in ages. Took the family there for a belated Christmas lunch yesterday. Food was first class...I'd recommend the goats cheese starter..yummy ! Main course was just as good although one of my party had a particularly fatty shoulder of lamb but I suppose thats what you get with lamb. Desserts were extra yummy and plenty of choice. Overall good service, tasty menu with plenty of choice and reasonably priced for quality food. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent food with a great choice offered on a daily menu - I had sausage and mash which was perfect and both the vegetarian curry and chicken burger were delicious. Proper draft available and I preferred the Kodiak to the Side-pocket but both were too easy to drink.
Hot drink and a choice of 3 mini desserts is the less calorific choice- I went for the crumble and the filling was delicious- maybe the crumble a bit too loose and “packet-esque“ the only minor crumb of critique. Friendly service, and although bit of a wait for the food I thought it was worth it.
Also there’s a scheme to give you tokens toward your next meal and I hope to be back to use them soon.
I came after a late night at work and strolled through the front door with just minutes to spare before the kitchen closed. The hostess still happily greeted me and got me a table and told me that if I ordered right away I would be able to get some food. I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger and was expecting it not to be that good since they were about to close up the kitchen and probably just wanted to go home. I’m very happy to say that not only was I blown away by how good it was, it was one of the best chicken burgers that I have had in a long time! The staff is great, the restaurant was very clean and fashionably decorated. I would highly recommend this place for a good tasty meal.
The food was really good, I loved the garlic bread. Services was ok, I can't complain just felt a bit under staff, we need the waitress a couple of times and we had to wait a bit.
A bit expensive but with this price increase it is difficult everywhere it is difficult to say.
In general good experience and good food. I will come back when I back in the area
Found on Google Maps when looking for a real ale pub close to M25.
Duke of York was a very short diversion from Junction 23 on M25 on the Old Barnet Road at around 2.5 miles.
Bars were very light and a lovely real fire burned in the grate. We arrived about 2.30 and served by the very pleasant bar staff. Meals were still being available and I had the open prawn sandwich, which was served on a thick slice of sourdough bread and was delicious. My husband just wanted a portions of chips and enjoyed his beer. He said there was a good choice of real ales.
The pub was an excellent stop to give us a break from the M25 on a very wet and murky afternoon.
The pub is beautiful inside, with a lovely open fire. The servers are also brilliant and friendly. However, they were playing the radio with awful music. I would recommend that this place play some nice gentle classical music or jazz, because the radio pop music is really off-putting.
We are regular customers here so I hope this constructive criticism is taken into account 😊

Wonderful . Perfect for summer outside eating too. Great location great food wonderful staff
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Not too in your face. Went for Sunday lunch. Good sized portion for the hungry diner. Good selection of veg. On the list for somewhere good to go. Added extra, lots of parking with reserved spaces for elderly/disabled.
Went for a drink and stayed for dinner! We visited on a Saturday around 4:30pm and sat outside on the patio. The patio is covered and had heaters and blankets which were very welcome. We liked the look of the menu so ordered food. We did have to wait almost an hour for the food to arrive. The food was really tasty, good size portions and the service staff were lovely. Would definitely go again. The menu changes everyday, the day we were there we found plenty of choice to suit our family. Wonderful atmosphere, clean, lovely finishing touches, friendly staff.
Revisited this pub today having previously gone a few years ago! They have now got loads more vegan options now!
I enjoyed a vegan sweet potato and aubergine curry and my husband had a vegan meatless burger with vegan cheese and chips!
The pimms cocktails were great with lots of fresh fruit!
Would happily return again soon!
Great pub, beer and food. Will definitely be back!
