This is a quite intimate venue without being cramped. Comfortable, modern facilities in and around a grand structure in keeping with Barnsleys centre. Quiet mid week performance of Jane Austens Lady Susan. Excellent production.
I visited the Civic to watch the pantomine Cinderella. Fantastic production, all the actors and dancers did amazing. The staff at the venue are kind, welcoming and very friendly.

We all had a fantastic time at the panto, catered for kids an adults alike. Such fun ! 😁. Lovely idea to have photos with the cast after. Will definitely be back next year ❤️
Attended the Garden Party event on Saturday - absolutely brilliant day. Loads to see and do and the weather was kind too. I would recommend this theatre wholeheartedly. Great friendly staff, good facilities that are currently undergoing renovation. Sensible ticket pricing, and good parking within a short distance.

Just seen Cinderella, it was funny, entertaining. We had a great time! Oh no you didn't, OH YES WE DID. Everyone worked so hard to give all the audience a fabulous time. The meet and greet team also worked hard.
Would recommend, you go and see it, the children will love it.
My mum, niece and myself attended and it was brilliant. Definitely something for all ages and a must see. Wonderfully interactive and immerses you into the story. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for future events!
We attended Barnsley Metropolitan Band’s BANDFEST at the Civic on Wednesday 18/10/23 and what a treat it was, featuring Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Grimethorpe Junior Band and Mapplewell & Wellgate Primary. They sounded terrific and we thoroughly enjoyed this super evening and I fully understand now
