I've been a Cresswell Street resident for just short of a decade. I've seen many people take over The Friery and in my opinion, fail miserably. The new owners are kind, welcoming and bloody brilliant cooks! I popped over last week for some lunch and was asked if I wanted today's special - fish pie and cauliflower cheese. Oh my word it was absolutely out of this world! The Friery is by far the best chip shop in Barnsley and the surrounding area. If you not sure about giving it a try, you must!! You will not be disappointed!!

This has to be the best chippy in Barnsley we’ve tried the fish is massive ( shark springs to mind )really good value for money and the couple that run it are the loveliest people so friendly and welcoming. If you want a decent portion of quality fish and chips this is the place

Went in this evening for some fish and chips for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Also the lady and gentleman behind the counter were extremely helpful also with a big smile on there faces!!! Keep up the good work guys and we will be back sooner rather then later!

Really good, fresh fish and chips. Bit of a wait, but then what do you expect when you get them cooked fresh for you. Wide selection of veggie/vegan options. Nice to find a place where the person actually enjoys their job and makes you feel welcome. Will definitely be returning!

One of the best chippies around with a passionate proprietor who really cares about quality and cleanliness. And you can't fault the design - you arrive and leave with a smile.
