Bosuns Locker Cafe

The place was packed when we arrived, obviously a very popular place! We had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. We waited just over 40 minutes for our afternoon tea which was booked and pre ordered but once service began it was good. The food was delicious and there was no pressure to leave, even though we were the last there. I had been warned that Fridays were busy. A lovely place with lovely food and caring service. I would go back but maybe not on a Friday afternoon!

Tasty home-made hearty meals from a varied menu with lots of choices. The giant Yorkshire was great. Service was good but a little inattentive at times. Had to remind the servers to bring the sides we ordered. Very cramped tables and chairs so a bit challenging for older folks or with kids. Overall very good, and the location is unique. Will definitely be back.

We always enjoy visiting The Bosun's Locker where a warm welcome is always assured. Our grandchildren tucked into their meals of choice with enthusiasm, and were very happy to colour in, with materials supplied by the cafe. Michael was elated with his plate of Liver and Onions, accompanied by mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetables. Thank-you too for my Ham Egg and Chips. Real chips, egg cooked to perfection, and wonderful fresh ham. What a treat!

We called in on spec and managed to take the only table that wasn't reserved. We now understand why so many customers felt the need to book. The whole experience was out of the top drawer. Excellent choice offered at incredible value. Portions were generous and the quality was superb. Couple that with fantastic service from our young French waitress and we will definitely be back on our next visit to Barrow in April. A big thank you to everyone involved in running what has just become our favourite cafe!

Highly recommend this place. Visited on Friday, didn't book a table but managed to get one as it was about 2pm. The food coming out of the kitchen looked good, I decided on the liver with creamy mash, so tasty and a lovely selection of vegetables, a great choice. My sister had the Scampi with chips and salad which she enjoyed. Then it was a piece of coconut cake and an ice cream both delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. I have had many an ice cream from here over the years but this was my first meal and I will hopefully be back on my next visit to Barrow.

Excellent home cooked food at extremely reasonable prices, huge portions. Home made cake to die for. Place is basic but very clean. Really is a little gem of a place, love going here. Quality of food is way beyond price charged. Don't expect luxurious surroundings but does what it does brilliantly. Best to book in advance, gets pretty busy at peak times.
