First time to the Blacksmiths - live relatively "in the area", never been before - will without question be going again - it all exceeded expectations - the landlord even promised my favourite wine on my next visit !!!!

Best food in barrow, lovely welcome and excellent pricing. Had several meals there and never been disappointed. Also very competitively priced for the quality.

Delicious food, really enjoyable and clearly high quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and for the quality I would say prices are reasonable.
We had the scallop starter to share (I really like the pea puree!) and we both had lamb rump with lamb shoulder for the main which was stunning. The flavours were beautifully balanced and there was a perfect mix of textures. I really appreciated the slightly crunchy, buttery brocolli - yum!
Unfortunately for us, the atmosphere was a bit lacking - it was too dark in the dining room and it lacked any character or charm. That being said, the outside area is very sweet and I'm sure is a lovely place to relax in the darker evenings.
We also found the service to be lacking in warmth. It was friendly and polite but lacked a certain something. We were in and out within an hour and, for a celebration evening, we were just not 'wowed' as much as expected. Not disappointed but not overwhelmed.

Sunday lunch. Plenty of choice. Even if you do not want the roast with all the trimmings. Good choice of beer or wine with plenty of options for cocktails to non alcoholic drinks.

I love it here, come quite often because the dishes are always to my liking. Great place to go with friends and family. Service is always great and the outdoor tables are comfortable, classy and inviting.
