Excellent really old black and white timbered pub built in 1614. Small two roomed pub. New landlady /landlord.
Landlord has confirmed - May 2023 "I can confirm we do have a food menu on now. We offer a full lunch menu and we have speciality nights throughout the week. Most importantly, of course, we have our amazing Sunday Lunch".
I will try the menu and update the review when I can.
You won't find many pubs like this anymore. Good, honest grub, good range of drinks and food service. They had an amazing range of pies when we went, just in case you're a fellow lover. The big guy behind the bar was a legend.
Not been for a while, arrived about 1pm a number of older folks eating inside, we sat in the beer garden. I ordered food and didn't have to wait long. Good meal and good pub.
Fantastic little pub.
Tuesday pie nights and Wednesday Currys are great! The travelling food trailers they have there are also so nice!
Great selection of beers, ciders, wines, ales.. everything!
Highly recommended!!
Absolutely fantastic pub. A hidden jewel right by the M6. I was staying in the Services Travelodge nearby, and in a search for decent food, I found this pub!
They weren't serving food that night, but promised me a hearty Steak and Ale pie for my second night if I came back.
And despite not actively serving food when I returned, they delivered what can only be described as the best Steak and Ale pie I've ever tasted.
Now THAT is customer service!
I may never be in this part of the country again, but the fact that they went over and above for a visitor that they remembered was in search of a good meal, shows the commitment they must have for their own community!
Thank you guys! If I'm ever in this part of the country again, I will certainly make a special effort to visit!
Great beer. Characterful traditional country pub. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Within easy reach of Crewe, Newcastle-u-Lyme, and Stoke-on-Trent.
Popped in for a bite to eat and a pint.
NOT disappointed.
Good food options, I opted for scampi.
Friendly staff and good service.
Had some lovely food from the pop up from GGs Nosh Box
Lovely old pub with good beer and food.
Lovely quaint pub, we went for Sunday roast, but we were disappointed in the quality of the meal. So we wouldn't return for food, only drinks
