Coming from Aberdeen and visiting family in Basildon I realised in all my previous visits I had never tried Pie, mash & Liquor.
That changed today and I think I picked a great place to experience my first one, as will definitely be eating this again....
Sadly on my visit on 5/11/25 the food was all very cold! Every bit of it. Pies, mash and even the liquor were all cool at best. …

This was the 1st time at Robins in Basildaon as we usually travel to Chelmsford. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and cheerful. I went for a modest, double, double with liquor, whilst my wife went for a boring single with mash. The quality of the food was really good, and we will certainly be returning.
Fantastic lunch today - first time for me in this lovely pie and mash shop and they very generously gave me an extra vegan pie and soft drink :) very reasonable prices and lovely homely atmosphere. Can’t wait to bring all of my work people here for lunch. Cheers guys! See you soon x
Sorry , but being from west end , this is not a good pie and mash .. you cannot fake the pie m, by just adding tonnes of salt to the meat in the pie ! No flavour and definitely nothing like mash shops in chapel market .
Wandered in mid afternoon. Plenty of tables to sit down. Traditional wooden benches and Formica tables in rows. Friendly staff and quick service. Prices are reasonable. Pie and mash was yummy. Very filling. Glad I stopped by. Another place tucked off the list!
