Our waitress, Angelina, was absolutely fantastic- she was the perfect level of attentiveness, really helpful and gave great recommendations when we asked. Food is probably on the more expensive side but is very tasty so would still definitely recommend it if you are comfortable spending a bit more. We loved that you could order lots of bits to share because it gives you a good taste of a variety of dishes! Definitely worth swinging by if you’re in town.

One of the best nights in Bath, the vegan sushi combo was extraordinary. So many combinations I would never think of, the beetroot sushi was extraordinary. Additionally I found the booking system very straightforward and easy to use. I do have to give praise to the thoughtful matcha mocktails and plenty of non alcoholic and vegan options.

Nice food and decent service. We had a mixture of hot dishes and sushi - really I would say the hot dishes were just ok, however the sushi was really great. There is a nice New York vibe to the place too. Be warned though - it's not cheep.

Love this place! It’s on the expensive side, but truly a treat. I had one “off day” here where the food seemed less fresh and a couple of the ingredients I expected in my normal order were missing but otherwise always a good experience.

The best experience you will ever have. The ambience and design of the restaurant are of high standards and really captivates the Japanese spirit. We were shown to a table, and fortunate to have the place to ourselves at around 3:30pm, for a late lunch (though their lunch menu finishes at 3pm). We were given plenty of time to look over the menu, as we had never visited before, and so many items sounded so good! Unfortunately, however, we were informed that the bao buns and some of the sushi items were unavailable. After placing our order for some Karaage chicken starters, the wagyu beef sliders and chicken skewers, the food arrived in good time and was piping hot. The karaage is the best karaage I have ever had, with the delicious brown chicken meat inside a crispy and well seasoned batter. The sliders were a good size, and neatly presented, but had a good amount of dressing in them, so that you got what you paid for, but it didn't all end up all over the place! The chicken skewers came with a slightly spicy bbq drizzle and on hot skewers (so be careful when touching them at first!) and were just devine! The skewers were so good. In fact, we had to order another set! After the gorgeous food, we were asked if everything was satisfactory, and when provided the bill we were asked if we were happy to pay the total amount, which surprised me as I was expecting to pay more! There were no hidden service charges or tips included, and I was even able to keep the receipt and folded sleeve as a momento of the visit. We were discussing with the staff about how we managed to dodge the hustle and bustle, and with it being graduation week from the local university, we decided to book a table for the following evening, and try more food, while experiencing a more lively atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone, as this restaurant deserves its Michelin Plate award and spot in the coveted Michelin Guide. They're well on their way to earning a Star, in my opinion!

Michelin guide did not disappoint with this restaurant. With two separate seating areas, one darker with a moodier setting and the other with a light and more elegant setting. From the excellent service always available to the incredible presentation and flavour of food, I can highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is inspired from Japanese BBQ from the early 1900s with many options coming straight from the BBQ. There are a lot of more tradition dishes like sushi, bao buns and gyozas, and some show stoppers like the Yuzu Ponzu Wagyu beef which was incredible. Prices are well within reason and I was gracious to receive a free glass of prosecco with my meal due to a special occasion. The restaurant goes above and beyond with both service and food.

This restaurant is a real gem. I have been back countless times with friends and/or family and the food and service never disappoints! The atmosphere is lovely and decor is very well done. Highly recommend the sashimi platter, any of the sushi, spicy chicken karaage and bang bang broccoli. Very tasty food and the cocktails and really good (get the Lady Les). Will definitely keep coming back!

Beautiful setting, lots of variety on the menu, delicious food served beautifully. Most of the staff are flawless with just the right engagement. Personally, I think it is all just a little overpriced. Cocktails were on average £3 more than the Botanist! One small note is we arrived a little early, the doors were wide open so we entered. A gentleman told us they were closed in a rather direct manner giving a terrible first impression. Two of us work is hospitality and were fairly shocked. You would normally be seated with a menu and informed that you couldn't place an order until midday; have drinks but no food or 3rd politely asked if you could wait outside for 10 minutes. If you are not open, the door should be shut. However, we all loved our lunch, had a delicious meal and could not fault the food or the service the second time around. For special occasions definitely worth a visit.
