The Cottage Restaurant

We have always found The Cottage very good with good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately........this time was different. My wife had the baked potato with Tuna Mayo which was very good. I cannot say the same. I had the soup and sandwich combo. This included a cheese and pickle sandwich, very nice and Broccoli and cheddar soup which tasted very nice until I got to THE DEAD FLY! Staff were very nice and apologetic but I was offered the money back for the soup alone. Come on surely this is not good business. If I had given someone a meal with a big black fly in it, the least I would have done was waived the bill completely. Other customers may have even refused to pay, and well within their rights in my opinion. Sorry , but it’s unlikely that we will be back.

My friends and I were there today and as we all have various disabilities we didn't feel out of place or unwelcome. In fact the exact opposite, the table was by the exit so my friend could leave her disability scooter outside, my other friends assistance dog was warmly welcomed and the staff were just so friendly. Our food and drinks were delicious and we had a bit of banter with the staff. Would definitely recommend a visit for the great ambience. Thank you Helen and Callum .
