Always one of my favourite stopping off points, I'm glad I came today as the tearoom is closing next week, for a week, to move everything across to the new train carriage!
I do hope it's got something of the same character as the old one!
Good luck with the new venture, hope the move goes well and I'm looking forward to seeing your new set up 👍
Fantastic homemade food in a unique environment. Come hungry if you're looking to opt for the afternoon tea. A round of sarnies, 2 homemade scones stacked with so much jam and cream that they need to be eaten with a fork and finished by a couple of cakes each. The cakes were the ones that finished me off so a doggy bag was called for. All this served up in an old railway carriage with a great team running the show. Highly recommended.

This is a great spot to have tea and cakes or a light lunch (or even breakfast baps) in original 1950s railway carriages, sitting in the original Bellingham railway station. Friendly service, tasty food and fair prices!

Note that this establishment was originally called "The Carriages" but the name was taken away to another venue by the former owner. The 'new' Carriages cafe is not related to trains in any way, but still has photos on its Google profile showing the trains. If you want tea on a train, you need Tea On The Train!
Amazing old train carriage (lady was saying it's due to be replaced). Seats were actually comfier than most cafes :-) Service was really good and food normal cafe options but all was really nice. There is even a covered eating out area if you have dogs. Would highly recommend.
Bacon Rolls were to perfection. Very good quick and efficient service with good banter about local attractions. Visit to the Heritage Centre is definitely recommend. Use the Red Kiosk to "Dial" back in time.
Visited today after doing the Hareshaw Linn Waterfall walk, perfect place to relax the aching muscles before the drive home, had a lovely toasted ham and cheese sandwich and coffee with all the trimmings while my faithful 4 legged sidekick had a sausage in his own dog bowl :-) Dogs aren't allowed inside the carriages but with covered seating outside it's not an issue at all. With a toilet next door in the Heritage Centre it covers all bases
Lovely food on a converted train carriage in what was a railway station. The staff are brilliant and knowledgeable about the train, the service and choice of food is great. The visitors centre next door is worth a visit too.
My second visit here. Lovely surroundings in which to sit and eat a very tasty sausage and caramelised onion toastie ❤️
On impulse we decided to have our lunch here on a really warm, summers day. Easy parking in the Heritage Centre and ample covered outside seating as well as carriage seats inside. We had a lovely panini and tuna melt toastie and a fruit scone with raspberry jam and cream. Fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Great staff, friendly and attentive and great value for money. Recommended. Next door is the Heritage Centre and it is only a short walk to the village and easy access to the path to Hareshaw Linn waterfall.
Friendly staff, efficient service, handy for the very informative local history museum.
