Highly recommend for lovely food, a warm welcome and brilliant staff. We had a great meal which was made even better by your lovely staff, they are so warm, friendly and professional. We came here on a rainy Saturday whilst camping in the dales. We brought our dog Dwight, and spent 3 hours here eating and waiting for our children to join us, everything was amazing. It’s a good job we don’t live close to this pub, else we’d never do anything else. We had such a lovely meal here, the food was incredible, the service was second to none. Will 100% always recommend

Dinner out with friends at the hanging gate near Belper, a charming country pub situated overlooking the amber valley. Part of the vintage inns chain whose pubs rarely disappoint. Started with French martinis, then starters, mains and desserts. All the food came out quickly and was hot and served well. My steak was a bit fatty and probably should have been cooked at a higher temperature but I enjoyed it all the same. Sea bass was nice, and even the pizza looked good. Service was good and attentive even with an almost full dining room. We had a small discrepancy with the bill having an extra bottle of wine on that was quickly sorted. Recommended and would visit again.

This is some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Didn’t get a picture of the mains but we had the burger and it was actually unreal. I will 100% be recommending this place and revisiting. The pub itself is so full of character and all staff are friendly and warm. Also your chef deserves a medal! Thank you
