Myself and 3 other friends called in here during our biking tour a couple of months ago and they didn't let us down. The staff were outstanding esp the chef she talked to us and told us about the place the night prior and said they would look after us and they didn't disappoint at all. The pie was the best iv ever had we expected something like a Pukka pie but what we got was worthy of a Kings banquet! Next time I'm passing by on the bike I will be stopping again.

Service is amazing- everyone is very welcoming and friendly. The food is absolutely scrumptious. I had the chicken floretine and it was cooked beautifully. The sauce, veg and garlic potatoes were gorgeous too. Best meal I have had in ages. My partner has the steak and ale pie, which too, was delicious. They happily allowed us stay overnight in our motorhome and accommodated the dogs in the pub too. Thank you.

Bit out of the way buy well worth the trip. Has rooms and couple of cottages. Didn't eat but what we saw looked lovely. (Just changing the menu - mussels and lots of other mouthwatering stuff.) Those in the know ask for a pint of Bass "out the back" - straight out of the cask with no pipes or fonts in the way!

A lovely small pub with great customer service and delicious food, a cosey atmosphere with that authentic rustic feeling.
Their roast dinners are very nice, with chicken, beef and pork to choose from, all very nicely done to the level of cookedness you prefer (rare/medium/well-done etc).
I'm often disappointed with most pub food (even places that do carvery/roast dinner), as it tends to be cache and carry tier quality with no love put into preparation, but that's not true here, very nice food and high quality, which justifies the higher prices.
The location is in a nice and quiet part of the derbyshire countryside. Athough it's secluded, it has decent parking.
It's a real pub with proper food, which is what I like about it, a rare find these days. It gives a more rustic, traditional, peaceful and quiet vibe that allows one to feel more relaxed and get a real feeling of ease, while feeling like a welcomed traveler or visitor in old times gone by.
I've only been here for dinner so I'm not sure what the rooms at the Inn are like, so I won't give them a score, but by going how everything is managed, I can imagine them being good.

We enjoyed the Sunday roast - four adults. The bar and table staff were efficient and friendly.
We had the choice of pork or beef with usual trimmings. It was quiet when we visited and it felt that the atmosphere was lacking but this was no detriment to the staff. Overall - recommended.

2 night break at this family run inn.
Check in was very easy and we we're shown to our room by the manager which was a very nice touch.
The room we we're staying in was very well presented. Lovely decoration and period pieces of furniture. All usual room equipment. Only slight negative was the shower - it wasn't a very powerful one, but worked OK.
Well kept and interesting selection of ales available.
Food was excellent. The Big Bear breakfast is probably the best breakfast I have had in a hotel. Other breakfast options were also available. These too were great.
If you intend to stay here, make sure you book if you wish to eat your evening meal here. It is very popular and it was easy to see why. The meal that my wife and I had was fantastic. All freshly prepared.
Lastly all the staff were very friendly and attentive.
If you are looking for a country inn within a fre miles of the Peak District you will not go far wrong with this one.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this lovely character-filled and nicely finished pub.
The food itself was absolutely excellent with very generous portions. The vegetarian nut roast I had was excellent and the chicken which another of our party ordered was also perfectly cooked. These were all accompanied by very generous portions of fresh vegetables and a rich cauliflower cheese. This was followed up by some - again - very delicious desserts with a good selection for vegan and gluten-free diners. To top it off, the service was very quick and the staff friendly and attentive.
We can easily say we’ll definitely return if we’re in the area again and I’ll definitely be recommending to others. Thank you!

Banging snap as always, love this place. Rate friendly staff too.
The only part that I wasn't impressed with was a couple allowing a dog to roam freely around the area that we were eating at as I hadn't been made aware that animals were free to roam around a food establishment. Had I have known this in advance I would have requested a table in a different room due to my allergies.

We stopped off for lunch at the suggestion of a local, and the food was superb. Great quality and good value. More veggie options would be a great addition, but they were very helpful. I can’t comment on the accommodation as we didn’t stay.
