We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this lovely character-filled and nicely finished pub. The food itself was absolutely excellent with very generous portions. The vegetarian nut roast I had was excellent and the chicken which another of our party ordered was also perfectly cooked. These were all accompanied by very generous portions of fresh vegetables and a rich cauliflower cheese. This was followed up by some - again - very delicious desserts with a good selection for vegan and gluten-free diners. To top it off, the service was very quick and the staff friendly and attentive. We can easily say we’ll definitely return if we’re in the area again and I’ll definitely be recommending to others. Thank you!

Myself and 3 other friends called in here during our biking tour a couple of months ago and they didn't let us down. The staff were outstanding esp the chef she talked to us and told us about the place the night prior and said they would look after us and they didn't disappoint at all. The pie was the best iv ever had we expected something like a Pukka pie but what we got was worthy of a Kings banquet! Next time I'm passing by on the bike I will be stopping again.

The new managers are doing a great job of putting this place back on the map. Our room was lovely and clean and nicely decorated. Plenty of outdoor space for kids to enjoy as well as to sit in the peaceful countryside for a drink. We had burgers for tea which were excellent, breakfast was lovely and the staff were all great. Location is countryside but not far from amenities and for exploring places of interest. I'm definitely going back 😁

We enjoyed the Sunday roast - four adults. The bar and table staff were efficient and friendly. We had the choice of pork or beef with usual trimmings. It was quiet when we visited and it felt that the atmosphere was lacking but this was no detriment to the staff. Overall - recommended.

2 night break at this family run inn. Check in was very easy and we we're shown to our room by the manager which was a very nice touch. The room we we're staying in was very well presented. Lovely decoration and period pieces of furniture. All usual room equipment. Only slight negative was the shower - it wasn't a very powerful one, but worked OK. Well kept and interesting selection of ales available. Food was excellent. The Big Bear breakfast is probably the best breakfast I have had in a hotel. Other breakfast options were also available. These too were great. If you intend to stay here, make sure you book if you wish to eat your evening meal here. It is very popular and it was easy to see why. The meal that my wife and I had was fantastic. All freshly prepared. Lastly all the staff were very friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a country inn within a fre miles of the Peak District you will not go far wrong with this one.

Service is amazing- everyone is very welcoming and friendly. The food is absolutely scrumptious. I had the chicken floretine and it was cooked beautifully. The sauce, veg and garlic potatoes were gorgeous too. Best meal I have had in ages. My partner has the steak and ale pie, which too, was delicious. They happily allowed us stay overnight in our motorhome and accommodated the dogs in the pub too. Thank you.

LOVELY!!! We stopped here for dinner as we were staying locally near by. Wow! The food was amazing! All freshly cooked and very tasty. The service was absolutely fantastic ..very friendly and welcoming. We had our little dog with us and they even cooked us a little chicken breast so he could have something to eat. A very pleasant meal with a cosy surround and fantastic service!! I believe it has just come under new management...but not a problem at all!! Really would recommend it! Thank you If we are in the area again we would definitely revisit. ❤️

Banging snap as always, love this place. Rate friendly staff too. The only part that I wasn't impressed with was a couple allowing a dog to roam freely around the area that we were eating at as I hadn't been made aware that animals were free to roam around a food establishment. Had I have known this in advance I would have requested a table in a different room due to my allergies.

Hi, I visited this weekend for a 1 night stay & it was brilliant. Nice clean modern rooms. Staff are really helpful. The jewel in the crown is the amazing "THE BIG BEAR BREAKFAST". This is the best cooked breakfast in the whole of the UK. food locally sourced & bacon worth dreaming about. Amazing visit, especially when the current owners have only been there for 5 weeks. Well done guys, I will be back regularly.

We stopped off for lunch at the suggestion of a local, and the food was superb. Great quality and good value. More veggie options would be a great addition, but they were very helpful. I can’t comment on the accommodation as we didn’t stay.

Finally got to this place, wasn't disappointed. Lovely old feel to the place, would love to visit in winter when they have all the fires going. Food delicious, we had starters of mushrooms, lamb and the halloumi, mains were salmon, burger, pie and chicken. They were all very good. Service was quick and friendly. Can't wait to go again.

Stayed over last night in the Stag room. Lovely quiet room, bed was so comfy and the decor lovely. Had a meal in the evening, the food was delicious. Starters were musroom and lamb then mains were the salmon and bear burger. Breckfast was yummy. Whole experience was relaxing and service from the lads behind the bar was great. Very friendly, welcoming and if you want a little cheeky get away then highly recommended.

Bit out of the way buy well worth the trip. Has rooms and couple of cottages. Didn't eat but what we saw looked lovely. (Just changing the menu - mussels and lots of other mouthwatering stuff.) Those in the know ask for a pint of Bass "out the back" - straight out of the cask with no pipes or fonts in the way!

A lovely small pub with great customer service and delicious food, a cosey atmosphere with that authentic rustic feeling. Their roast dinners are very nice, with chicken, beef and pork to choose from, all very nicely done to the level of cookedness you prefer (rare/medium/well-done etc). I'm often disappointed with most pub food (even places that do carvery/roast dinner), as it tends to be cache and carry tier quality with no love put into preparation, but that's not true here, very nice food and high quality, which justifies the higher prices. The location is in a nice and quiet part of the derbyshire countryside. Athough it's secluded, it has decent parking. It's a real pub with proper food, which is what I like about it, a rare find these days. It gives a more rustic, traditional, peaceful and quiet vibe that allows one to feel more relaxed and get a real feeling of ease, while feeling like a welcomed traveler or visitor in old times gone by. I've only been here for dinner so I'm not sure what the rooms at the Inn are like, so I won't give them a score, but by going how everything is managed, I can imagine them being good.

I am not easy to impress. I believe only 7 weeks into re opening under a new owner, it is clear to see that this is already a well oiled machine. No complaints. We received incredible service, a lovely room, great food. What a delightful experience 😊

we visited here on sunday for a lovely roast, which is absolutely was, just a couple of comments, the gravy was definitely on the runny side, the group of us all like thick rich gravy which this wasn’t. That being said the mash potatoes and the cauliflower cheese was amazing 🤩 also we were disappointed to see salt and pepper in little paper packets, made it feel like a cafe which it definitely isn’t! one last thing, we all scored the roast a good 8.5 but please don’t bother with the puddings, big standard out of the freezer definitely not home made, and the cheese cake was definitely a freezer burnt tart type pudding x we did give feedback which they took onboard🥰

Wow. Amazing. We are staying on the campsite down the road and when we were looking for some good food in a pub we googled and came up with a bunch. We spoke to the campsite owner and he said try the bear inn, new management. Well I can say the previous reviews can be forgotten and the new place is beautiful. The view for a start and then you got inside and it's rustic charm and room shapes and it's full of little knucks to tuck into and the beer selection is good. We had the burger as a former owner of my own burger restaurant it was perfect. The dressing is a hidden gem on the topping. Spoke with the GM on arrival very polite and great chat. Cheers
