Rachael's Secret Tea Room

Just to say a massive thank you to The Secret Tea Rooms for providing a gorgeous afternoon tea in a box as a "takeaway" during the Covid 19 lockdown. A much needed opportunity for indulgengence and happiness during these difficult times. Soup, sandwiches, scones, cakes and cookies - just amazing! Strawberries dipped in chocolate added a wow factor. We will return and hopefully be able to have an afternoon tea in the Tea Rooms once the lockdown is over.

Found the market entrance for this tucked away through a tunnel alleyway but were supprised to find such a pretty tearoom. It's bigger on the inside than it looks and has different levels to sit on. Dogs are allowed on the lowest level and ours was made very welcome and enjoyed the trip. Good variety on the menu, lovely helpful staff and interesting books around the sides (an extract in the pictures)

I went for breakfast on Saturday 15th January in the morning. I asked for poached eggs, avocado on wholemeal bread and a flat white. I got scrambled eggs (cold😔) on one granary slice with two tiny slithers of avocado on top! It cost eight pound something for that. I have to say it was so disappointing. I should have said something at the time but it was very busy and I didn’t want to create a scene.
