Wow. Have been before but yet again they surpassed themselves. The food was absolutely delicious, the waitress very knowledgeable about the menu and the whole experience made us feel special. Thank you Ogino. We will definitely be back!

Another amazing meal in Ogino tonight. The attention to detail is outstanding. Brilliant service. This is the restaurant to try for any occasion. My favourite place to eat in 2020.

We pre ordered food and there was a mix up in the beginning. Someone wanted one of the long sushi rolls as a starter which is what the restaurant was emailed however this never came so one person was sat without a starter when everyone else was eating. It was very busy but the food came relatively quick. Everyone enjoyed the food. I had duck which I found to be very chewy. Apart from that it was a nice meal and a nice atmosphere. Quite pricey but its worth it, would definitely go back again

Sadly this was not the best visit my wife and I have had at Ogino. I would usually rate this as five star across the board how ever for a number of resons, of which I will provide, I can't do on this occassion. Firstly, the starters were excellent however my wife was left waiting for around 10 minutes before being asked if we would like another drink, despite our glasses being empty. It got to the point were I was going to stand up and ask at the reception. The mains were then served and I chose the beef fillet, which I though at best was around 5oz. I also chose the garlic rice with mushrooms, sadly the mushrooms were served cold,I felt this was really disaappointing. My wife chose a gluten free option with vegetables.....they forgot the vegetables which were eventually served 5 minutes later half way through the mains! Once finished, we wasn't offered a dessert option. I would like to stress that this is an exception to the service usually provided here and I did politely feedback constructive criticism to the manager, whom apologised but nothinmg else. I felt the staff were being over worked as a number of the watiers / waitresses had beads of sweat on their brows, this review in no way whatsoever reflects their efforts.

The party I was with had opted for a shared starter platter, which was excellent. I had scallops for my main but there were only three on the plate, padded out with a fairly bland sauce and mashed potato, a little disappointing considering the price. The side order of noodles, which was the chef's suggestion, were heavy and unnecessary. The steamed vegetables would have been a better choice. Desserts were also rather unimaginative and not very Japanese, they also took a very long time to arrive. On the whole I thought the food was pretty good but if I go again I'll be choosing my own side orders and I'd probably avoid the desserts altogether. Service was a little slow but friendly. At the end of the evening I really felt that the staff were trying to get us to leave so they could go too, despite the fact that we couldn't get an earlier booking.

I am a great fan of Ogino, it is my favourite place in Beverley and I always choose this place for a special occasion. The past few times we have noticed that the service is a bit disorganised and slow.. ok the food is cooked to order, it is complex and takes a while, we get that. However, the drinks are really slow to arrive and different waiting staff seem to bring drinks and different courses. There seem to be a lot of staff but they don't proactively offer fresh drinks and they seem to spend a lot of time chatting.. this is such a shame as the food is fantastic and this place is a little bit let down by the service. What it needs is someone organising things overall - a Maitre D' so to speak. Will keep going back for the food but would be good to see the service improved.

We visited here on an overnight trip to Beverley. The restaurant was very pleasant and welcoming, the tables weren’t crowded in on top of each other. We were welcomed warmly by the staff and they were friendly and attentive throughout. We decided on the tapas style menu in order to try several dishes and share them between us. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish, they were well cooked and full of flavour. We drank the Kirin beer with it and thought this a good choice. Overall we had a great evening with good food and drink in a friendly atmosphere for a reasonable price. What more could you ask for? We will definitely return.

My husband and I had the tapas menu which we felt was worth the money. The portions were of a good size. We will certainly return. The staff are very friendly.

We've just had a lovely lunch as a change from the usual traditional Sunday lunch. Ambience was lovely with really attentive personal service. Matthew really looked after us together with all the staff. Halibut was awesome with some great vegetable choices

You can tell a lot about a restaurant by observing the kitchen staff when it's possible. Quiet industry is how I'd categorise the kitchen of Ogino. No unnecessary rushing about, just concentration on the job in hand. It shows in the food. Superbly presented, it tastes magnificent and there was nothing I could criticise. The tempura batter was perfect and properly coated the prawns of the Teka Maki, was the correct colour and texture. The tuna steak of the Maguro was melt in the mouth. A dessert of Tofu Doughnuts finished off things wonderfully. Light dough but with enough substance and a sauce that complemented the dish well. Service was quick in the main, the staff very helpful — we requested to change our booking without too much notice but they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Not cheap, but food of this quality never is. We were delighted.

100% would recommend this lovely restaurant. Food is AMAZING! And there’s a few comments in regards to children not being welcome - I can assure you they’re! They don’t have highchairs so we took our portable chair seat, and the other diners with children were in the booths so everyone was comfortable. Staff really friendly and welcoming too. We can not wait to re visit! Thank you!

Externally, the first floor premises look nothing special but do not let this put you off - the interior is stylish and elegant with a lovely relaxing vibe. Staff are - lovely. Very welcoming, very efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. Open plan kitchen so you can see dishes being prepared. Menu offers a great choice of different flavours and textures. All dishes extremely well presented. A great dining experience whilst visiting area I used to live - Ogino always delivers my best Japanese dining experience ! - I visited 3 different Japanese restaurants on a recent trip to Morocco and they were very disappointing as reflected in my reviews ! It is great to see some non Japanese chefs producing such excellent and authentic food. I will be back !

Enjoyed the meals we had. Bit pricey but you pay for the whole package, food, atmosphere, service...Atmosphere was good- nice level of busy. Service was fine up until time to pay, asked for the bill, one waiter brought it over asked us for the card machine we said no. Within 30 seconds another waiter came over and asked did we need the card machine, said no paying with cash (and a gift card I’d bought over Christmas) he then proceeded to stand over me and wait til I counted cash out of my purse. I found this very uncomfortable. Could see In my purse and its contents. Have never experienced this before often leave the bill on the table or take it to the counter ourselves. I’m not sure if we’d outstayed our welcome (rude if so as we had a 3 course meal and several drinks -wasn’t cheap!) or were afraid we were going to run away without paying. Bit odd and I’m not sure I’d return because of this. Just wanted to get our coats and leave! Also, really irks me that you go to a nice place, pricey food and they provide really cheap toilet paper- the little touches matter!

The room is superb. Some booths and then an open floor with a mix of two and four seater tables. There’s room on the table to comfortably fit dishes and drinks. The tables are well spaced to give privacy and if there’s music playing it’s discreet... The staff are young and first rate. Never over bearing, attentive when needed, charming. The food is gorgeous. Some nice twists like venison gyoza sit in an exquisite menu of some traditional Japanese favourites, maki rolls, tempura, sashimi and sushi. Along with the he more fusion oriented mains. It’s not cheap .My second visit now, won’t be my last.

I visited the restaurant my first time with friends who have been previously. The food was exceptional and superb quality. The service attentive, cocktails and wine brilliant. We will be back.

My first visit to Ogino but certainly not my last! I was diagnosed with coeliac disease a year ago and require a gluten free diet, so eating out can be tricky and I often feel I'm missing out. However, I was delighted to find a wide choice of dishes on the gluten free section to their menu. We were greeted with a warm smile as we arrived by a nice young lady who then showed us to our table. Menus arrived, drinks were ordered. The food was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Would be happy to recommend to my friends. We had a lovely evening, never feeling rushed and were well looked after by Matthew and the team.

Christmas night out. My 1st visit to Ogino the food was fabulous beautifully presented prepared and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent the staff were busy but took time to explain the menu and suggest dietry options as one of the group has gluten intolerance. Will definately return next time we are in Beverley.
