Went for a quick lunch we had a main course each and a coffee. Both main meals were well cooked and well presented. 1 cod and chips 1 gammon egg and chips. Staff were welcoming and attentive and service was quick and served with a smile. The restaurant was very quiet only 3 tables being served but will go again if passing.

Staff were very pleasant,courteous and made sure everything was OK.
The food was A1 quality and taste,this was my first visit to the stanley gate and would recommend it to anyone In the area. When I'm in the are again I will most definitely visit again

Beautiful food. Extensive menu. I'd always thought of it as a burger level place but having to find a last minute venue for my daughter and her husband,who both have become 'foodies' due to high ranking military life I decided it might be good enough. First impressions of empty car park, building in need of repaint and interior decor not to our taste didn't look too good. However the food was exceptionally cooked. The squid was the best ever, from anywhere. 3 different starters and 3 different mains between the 4 of us and we can't praise any part of it enough. The chef or chefs really did a fantastic job, considering the variety of meals we had.

My friend and I had a very nice meal here Saturday night. The young man who served us (Bailey) was so polite, friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for him. Also a waitress called Ellie was a lovely member of the team. Would definitely recommend

We had a lovely time and a very nice meal.
Very helpful staff. Bringing extra plate, smaller cutlery, and most importantly for our granddaughter ketchup.
The only downside is that the toilets are upstairs, there is a disabled/baby changing one. However, it wasn't all that clean, which couldve been a one off.
So I don't want to mark 4 stars, 4.5 would've been OK.

This was the first time my husband and I have been to the Stanley gate. It was recommended by my mum and brother, so we thought, we would book and give it ago. We both picked the Sunday roast menu, and both went for the Rib of beef. The size was amazing and it came with roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and broccoli. Also it had a nice big Yorkshire pudding and stuffing a lovely gravy too. We added a side of cauliflower cheese to share, which was lovely with lots of cheese. After letting our dinner settle abit, we both ordered the sticky toffee pudding, which was served with ice-cream. That was a generous size and again, the nicest sticky toffee pudding we had tasted. We will definitely return soon and will be telling our family and friends about it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they checked if everything was OK and if we wanted anything else. It's a very friendly pub and you are made to feel welcome which is always nice.

I was so gutted that the meal I wanted was Sold out, but this ended up being a blessing in disguise. My alternative I had rib of beef was out of this world, so tender and just fell off the bone, the roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy inside, the veg cooked just how I like it.
The staff (front of house Katie I think was really helpful) ordered extra gravy that was no problem and arrived in no time.

Decent Chef&Brewer pub. Looks a bit tired outside. Could do with a lick of paint. Interior is fine. I'd probably score our Sunday Lunch 7/10 so was OK.

Absolutely fantastic, we only called in for a coffee, but what a fantastic public house, nicely decorated, warm and most of all welcoming. The pub not only caters for us who are two legged, but our four legged friends are also catered for. They have their very own Doggy Menu, bowls and biscuits. Well Done to the Landlord and staff 😍

First time visiting this restaurant and would definitely recommend. The roast dinners were cooked perfectly with the additional pigs in blankets. Both deserts were packed full of flavour. Great good and drinks and friendly staff.

Excellent, had an impromptu birthday meal for 17, staff were brilliant from start to finish, food was great, 17 empty plates, even lit the candles and brought in our b'day cake. Really nice decor inside, will be going back soon.
