The Thatched Inn

A definite place to visit. We had the pup with us so could either sit in the bar area or outside which had nice seats under cover too so we opted to sit outside. The staff were super friendly and happy to fuss Pippin the puppy, much to her delight. The food came out in good time and was delicious, the sheer amount beat me but my fiance happily cleared up the my leftovers even after his huge mixed grill. I guess the only sticking point would be a lack of parking near the pub itself but we went early at the start of evening service so personally had no issues. A fantastic meal to end our holiday.

We celebrated our wedding reception with you on 14.10.23 and are still on such a high from the day! The food was delicious (carvery and buffet) lots of our guests said the carvery was the best they'd ever had. All of the staff were amazing and friendly. From start to finish nothing was to much trouble. The changing from day to evening tables in the silver suit was so subtle and set out lovely. Thank you to everyone involved in making our day so special and memorable.

They fitted our table in when they were obviously busy. The food here is always good albeit just what you'd call good pub food. Service is friendly and helpful and the pub atmosphere is great. For a country pub, parking can be difficult and many customers travel here, but overall this is one of my favourite pubs in the locality and deserves your custom.

My partner enjoy their food, but mine was not worth the money, i ordered a ploughmans lunch, but it was very basic and not very nice, tiny soggy pork pie, small bit of prepackaged salad, dry white bread, no butter, pickle so sweet it tasted like syrupy jam. And the cheese was just a triange slab put on the plate with no cheese knife to cut it. The ham and coleslaw was the best bit of food and It was displayed nicely. But the worse ploughmans I've had in a bar.

Arrived as a group of 7 and was sat in a private quiet area. Was greeted by a friendly waitress who took our orders for both our drinks and food. The food arrived in good time and it was delicious. We all had something different but all had compliments about the food we received. Would happily recommend this pub for the service, food taste and portion sizes.

We decided to go to the thatched inn for a pint and a pub lunch. Wow. We were not expecting to be so impressed. We parked right outside on the road next to the pub, we brought our dog and the place is very accommodating, there is a gorgeous outdoor seating area with plenty of cover from the rain and there’s even heaters in there too. We ordered red velvet prawns (on the specials board) and calamari to share as starters and my dad was super impressed with the calamari, we’ve tried many calamari’s in many different places and this was absolutely delicious. For mains we had two fish and chips and one loaded katsu chips. Again very delicious fresh made food. We did not expect to be so impressed. When we next end up in bideford this will be the first place we come back to for sure!
