Very nice pub and campsite. The pub food was great, especially the fried battered brie, but burger and children portion as well. The campsite was quite muddy but we were warned before our stay by the owner. We consider coming back but hopefully with a better weather! We visited the Winkworth arboretum nearby and were not disappointed!
Proper cute little pub. It's a converted house. The living room is the bar, the dining room the restaurant. Bloody brilliant!! People were lovely, staff and other customers. And, of course, Velma the dog who was in with her owners. Lively space outside too.
Good campsite with plenty of room to have some of your own space. FYI - No showers or bins in the campsite. The food and beer in the pub was excellent and a good atmosphere.
This is a great little cottagey old pub, low beams, pretty fireplace, very friendly staff, excellent food and a lovely field to camp in at the back. Lovely garden ans some pigs!..., and...a very helpful guy who towed our campervan up the field when it got stuck in the mud. Beware if very wet weekends if you're in a campervan!!
Pub has limited opening days..need to check on theor website.
Great local country pub. Nice beer and food😀 Do not think you would get a better sandwich anywhere. This is our favourite Bacon and Brie with Cranberry. Truly amazing...
One of the best pubs I've ever visited. Very welcoming. Beer kept perfectly. Lovely food. A genuinely kind hospitable owner who is very happy to chat with you, that adds to everything, which Is rare and makes you feel at home. Gorgeous old building. Camping next door in the field which is perfectly simple and reasonably priced. It's how all pubs should be, and takes you back in time. Will be returning as much as possible.

Love this pub and campsite. We stayed this weekend, Sophie and Simon provided us with a lovely pitch in a beautiful setting. We were impressed with the facilities and attention to detail. We had our own bbq the first day and on Sunday we ate in the pub. It’s a lovely, truly authentic gem in the Sussex countryside, we are always made to feel so welcome and love the family atmosphere. The service and food were excellent, esp considering how busy they were. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, the food is the best of British, fresh, homemade and delicious. We would highly recommend..
This is a lovely pub. We were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful lady. The beer is well kept and very nice. We ordered lunch, Macaroni Cheese for my wife and a Steak and Ale pie for me. All food is cooked to order and it was absolutely marvellous!! I have no hesitation in recommending the Blue Ship but only if you want to have a relaxed meal in a lovely pub in a beautiful little hamlet.
We stayed at the little campsite at the side of the pub. What a peaceful little gem of a site it is too. We ate at the pub the first night, and although there was a slight mix up with the order (possibly my fault) they bent over backwards to sort it out for us. The food was delicious and they made us very welcome. Busy for a little pub in what feels like the middle of nowhere even though its not really. Probably best to book to ensure as its not very big.
I camped and ate here, great little place. The camping field was spacious, flat, close to loads of public footpaths in woodland and meadow. Dogs are welcome ana there’s space to give them a decent tether. The pub food was well cooked and presented and my dog was even treated to her own little plate of biscuits. I’d love to come back with a group next time, awesome little place!
