One of my favourite local restaurants, great menu and tasty traditional Moroccan food. Take your own drink (plenty of off licenses nearby). An area for traditional seating, on the floor too! Book early as it fills up very quickly.
Inside La Fibule is supposedly reminiscent of the type of cafe you may find down the side streets of Tangier, though the closest I have come geographically to Morocco is a week in Tenerife, so I’ll have to take their word for it. Its all low-light and cushioned, with metallic pendants hanging from the ceiling and walls adorned with paintings of scary looking men on horseback. It looks like both of the Shisha bars I have been in...
We had dinner here and the food was absolutely delicious, really homemade Moroccan food. The guy serving us, probably the owner, was nice and gentle, he really took care of us.
I strongly recommend the lamb here, it was soft and juicy, and also the mussels in spicy sauce were incredible.
I really recommend this place.
We absolute love this place. 5* experience every time we have visited. We have been coming for years. The service is outstanding, and they are so friendly and kind.
Excellent Moroccan food. Friendly service. Great environment. It's also BYOB with no corkage charge! Will definitely be back.
Came back for the first time in a few years having moved away. Glad we did! The food was just as delicious as I remember and the service was friendly and attentive.
A lovely team with great food and a cozy, intimate environment.
Would highly recommend
Another place recommended to me by friends.
Easy to book and although early we were greeted by staff and shown to our table.
The menu is amazing and I literally wanted to eat everything on there.
For starters we had
Mussels and calamari which were well cooked and very flavoursome.
Houmous, obviously home made and beautiful.
Sardines, well cooked but I would have liked a little more spice.
Mains
We had three different tagines and the vegetarian cous cous. All beautiful.
This place is highly recommended.
We come to La Fibule often for the amazing food. The staff are friendly, welcoming & make you feel like family. The food is always fresh & delicious. The best lamb Tagine around
I really enjoyed this wonderful Moroccan restaurant. Each traditional tagine dish was delicious, the meat perfectly soft and moist. It melted in my mouth. This was the first Moroccan restaurant I have ever been too, and to be honest I was quite nervous about the whole new experience, but I needn’t have been. The starter me and my girlfriend ordered was completely vegetarian (usually not something I’d enjoy) and yet I enjoyed it immensely. Everyone in my group of five people agreed that their dish was excellent quality and no one had a single complaint about any part of the meal. I also felt that the food itself was very reasonably priced.
Whilst I myself didn’t get a desert, everyone else did and no one was disappointed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. If I was to find a criticism (and I am determined to do so) then it would be that they did not serve alcohol, however I am told that this is the tradition in Morocco as it is a Muslim country and therefore “dry”. Instead me and my girlfriend went to the nearby off-licence to buy some red wine and larger to have with our meal and the staff here instantly provided us with a bottle opener no questions asked. If anything then not serving alcohol just saved us a lot of money, as had we bought a bottle of wine from a regular restaurant it would surely have cost well over twice the price we paid for it. And so even my very minor critique is in fact, upon reflection, a money saving bonus.
I shall be finding a Moroccan restaurant in Newcastle once we return home, and I do hope it is as good as here. Do bring your own alcohol if you wish to have some with your meal; but I assure you that you shall enjoy your dinner here. Highly recommend! 👍👍
Love the tagines here, but last night I opted for the lamb and chicken bruschetts.
Always love the mint tea, it’s difficult to find traditional Moroccan mint tea locally.
It’s always a lovely pleasant atmosphere, with traditional Moroccan music on in the background. Lovely traditional Arabic sofas surround the store, nice clean basic toilet with a hint of berber styling.
Marvelous and real taste of moroccan food. I really enjoyed these 2 types of houmous! The ambience really good!
Food was great quality massive portions week
Worth price too
