My wife and I had a delicious meal at Zen Metro this weekend! Nilakshi was fantastic, she was really attentive and took us through the set menu options in detail. Overall a wonderful dining experience, would definitely recommend!
Everything was fantastic. Food was great, atmosphere was great and staff were very friendly. Didn’t wait too long for the food. Within 15 mins of ordering, we got our food. Great place for a date. The place wasn’t too crowded or loud.
I went to Zen Metro with my mother and she absolutely loved the food. She is an extremely fussy eater. The food was absolutely beautiful, it was so tasty and fresh, the mocktails were fantastic. The service was great really welcoming and they gave us the right amount of attention. I cannot fault them.
Food was delicious and the service from Nilakshi was perfect!
She was super attentive and the food was served quickly. I celebrated my birthday here and even got a sweet treat from the Zen team.
The staff, service and atmosphere was perfect. Friendly, attentive, efficient, tables well spaced, airy and really well furnished.
The menu was really delicious, we had the koh samui set dinner for two. The knock out dishes were the curries, yellow, green and red, aromatic, spicy, creamy, flavoursome and totally delicious. The prawns were fat and juicy.
So why only 4? The three dips with the Thai crackers, one was sriracha, one sweet chilli and the 3rd some kind of soy sauce with sliced garlic. We didn't overly enjoy 2 of 3. Two were almost identical in flavour. They need a satay sauce or a sweet rice wine vinegar sauce to cut through the spice. (I did pass on this suggestion).
The sticky chicken on the mixed platter starter had a metallic taste (reminiscent of MSG). The papaya had no flavour, it tasted a little like a mild white cabbage. These are very minor points when the vast majority was perfect.
Most of the clientele appeared to be students/instagram people on mobile phones and casual attire. It didn't bother us. There was a small area off the main open plan with a couple of booth tables which looked nice and intimate. There are also a small number of booth tables by the bar as you arrive. It's a L shaped restaurant with bathrooms tucked behind the mirrored walkway.
All in all excellent and would definitely return, probably in jeans and hoodie 😉
A good place to eat.
The staff are the loveliest, gentlest people you could wish to meet.
We had a table of 4, and had plenty of room.
I had a starter of Indian Pork Rib which was fantastic, I'd highly recommend it. The meat just fell off the brown and the fat was beautifully rendered down. My wife had spring rolls which were lovely and dry, not oily in the slightest.
For mains I had chicken biryani and my wife had beef stir fry.
My Biryani was very spicy, but a little bit greasy, so I ended up leaving quite a bit of rice. There was too much rice and not enough chicken. My wife's dish was very good indeed.
I also had a chilli nan which was superb
The bill for 4 including a bottle of wine was £140.
Definitely recommend.
Great food and atmosphere. Love the style and quality of the interiors. Nilakshi really looked after us.
Pay Jai more,
We had really good food and drinks here. Especially green curry with veg. Fried rice was great and the food is authentic here. Kudos to our host(Manoj), who was very kind and patient with us. A must visit place for thai food.
So this was a new spot to try and considering we were late and they still seated us, that's pretty cool. As they're pretty hot on the timekeeping front, and fair play, 15 mins or they'll give away the table. But they got us in which was nice... the drinks weren't that strong (we had pineapple mojitos) prawn crackers and the dips were AMAZING... the chicken satay was kind of underwhelming... the sauce was nice but the chicken itself was a bit plain.. tempura prawns were juicy with a light crispy batter... the main, was nice! And HUGE lol the lamb they give you comes shredded, and mountainous lol... but until I poured the sauce it comes with all over it, it was just ok. But I got my money's worth from that dish! Overall wasn't blown away and not in a rush to return but the staff were polite 😋

Location♡
less than 15 minutes' walk from the centre of birmingham. The restaurant is situated in an area that isn't on a street but there is parking around .
Atmosphere ♡
Beautiful decor in the establishment, a beautiful flower tree placed in the middle of the restaurant really gives it dimension and that tranquil zen type of feeling . Music was played low in the background that complimented everything nicely.
Food ♡
the menu has so much amazing verity of choices, but if you really want to try multiple stuff, then I recommend the set menu . Starter platter, for mains 3 types of curry, noodles and to end a choice of desserts .
You can't help but notice the burst of flavours from all 3 types of curry .. it really has that pan asian authentic taste .
Every food from start to finish was incredible. I came 4 years ago for my birthday and still the food amazes me .
Service ♡
Brilliant staff that I can not fault . The waiter came and changed our cutlery in between meals and really looked after us .
10/10 ♡
