This is by far the best sushi in Birmingham. There are some other places to get sushi, but this one is the most authentic. I heard the chefs are certified sushi maker from Japan. I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday so we ordered 2 best deal plates and 1 salmon plate. These plates successfully filled 7 hungry stomach with happiness. The price was a little bit pricy but it worth the taste. Definitely coming back here for more!
In my experience, good Sushi is hard to come by, especially when you live in a city which is as far away from the sea as it can get! There is, however, a place in Birmingham famed for the quality of its fish. Sushi Passion started in the Bullring Markets, using the fresh fish around it to create traditional Japanese sushi and sashimi, as well as fusion style sushi like California rolls. Recently they opened in a new location with a restaurant in the beautiful Victorian shopping destination and independent haven Great Western Arcade. I went along one lunchtime to give it a try. The first impression is always the most important and Sushi Passion makes an impression even before you get through the door. The window resembles a Zen garden with a large Bonsai, traditional artwork, kimonos and fans adorn the walls and ceiling, there is even a huge mural depicting a Japanese scene on one wall, where you can kneel and eat from traditional low tables. There was no room at the bar (which comes complete with Sushi train), so we sat at a table and enjoyed the surroundings. I had a green tea which came in the most beautiful teapot before we ordered Miso soup to start and a platter of assorted sushi to share. The Miso soup was lovely, with soft tofu and intensely savoury broth. When our platter arrived it looked amazing, with a selection of salmon & tuna nigiri, uramaki, futomaki and California rolls, as well as salmon sashimi, pickled ginger, wasabi and mooli. The fish was so fresh and the quality was obvious. The tuna was particularly good. I absolutely loved the California rolls with avocado, crab and red pepper, and the presentation was faultless. I can safely say this is some of the best Sushi I've had. The décor and its location in the Great Western Arcade make it a really lovely place to eat. I'm positive I'll be back.
I absolutely love this place. It's my third time here with my mum (It's like a ritual for us to come here when she is visiting me in Birmingham). The staff is incredibly friendly. Patricia was very kind and had a great knowledge of all the allergens in food so I easily avoided gluten!
Birthday treat dinner. Food was outstanding and clearly very fresh. Everything is prepared to order so service can take a little time, but it is a relaxed atmosphere and we’re happy to wait for incredible food. The Jasmine tea was also yummy.
Very cool restaurant. Delicious sushi, great service. Great choice of sushi and alcohol. Interesting idea to sit undressed at the table, but it is quite hard. Very surprised that there are pads and tampons in the toilet. Cool idea with instagram and online counter. I suggest you try the green dragon.
Amazing sushi and staff at Sushi Passion. The chef was lovely and made us a little extra treat because he had time. We had a fantastic night at Sushi Passion and will definitely return.
insanely fast service, amazing food, I loved the atmosphere too. I'm a very very picky eater and I loved everyone that there was here. the waiters were so nice and I loved them. one problem is they took away our complimentary dish before we finished it 😅 but it's alright. this place has an area where you can sit down and eat which is SO COOL! there's also a really long table where people can sit down. I still can't get over the fact on how kind the waiters are. best service in my life. 10/10 place, I 100% recommend coming down and eating here. even if it be a 1 hour drive to get here it's worth it. definitely recommending this place to my friends and family!
Lovely Sushi place with ample sitting. They also provide a traditional Japanese dining experience which is great to try out. Food quality and quantity is excellent. The price tends to be on a higher side compared to other Sushi restaurants with similar experience.
You feel the calming atmosphere as soon you enter from the bright arcade. The service is wonderful, everyone is kind and attentive and they make you feel at ease. The food is well prepared, looks great and has fresh complex flavour.
Food was great, service was fantastic, and everything seems well put together clean and cozy. Recommend this 10/10. Prices could be a bit lower though.
Absolutely fantastic! This was our first time here (for my birthday) and it did not disappoint. The rolls were fantastic, and the sashimi was especially delicious. The sushi chef did a special salmon nigiri before we left, and it was also delicious (see video). We've been looking for sushi places since moving to England, and then from other cities to Birmingham most recently, and this is now firmly our favourite for a special night out. The service was ace too!
Traditional Japanese restaurant with lovely fresh sushi and sashimi. Good value for the quality. We'll be back next time we're in Birmingham.
