Someone else invited and paid for this meal so I might have been bound to be pleased. However this was great tasting food, served with a smile and a real interest in their customers.

Puskar has become one of my go-to spot for Indian cuisine in Birmingham. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the presentation is always beautiful. Its definitely a hidden gem and I highly recommend trying their Sharing platter.

Delicious food! Honestly I’ve got to say it was the nicest curry I’ve tasted! Naan bread was out of this world and staff couldn’t be more friendly.
Would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a tasty Indian meal to go here. Comparing prices to other places I’ve been I think it’s a justified price for the lovely food and service you receive.
Extremely clean and tidy and all food tasted fresh.
We will definitely be back for more:)

Pushkar is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Birmingham. I am never disappointed and each visit it continues to amaze me. The food, atmosphere and service are excellent. Thank you to Rai and all his staff for yet another wonderful evening tonight. I bought my friends again and my grandson. You did me proud.

Having dined at Pushkar Cocktail Bar & Dining on numerous occasions over the years, I can attest to its consistent delivery of quality Indian fine dining experiences.
Situated in a prime location, the ambiance, especially on weekday evenings, offers a serene escape with a relaxed vibe. The menu boasts a delightful array of dishes, among which the Pushkar Panorama stands out as a delightful appetizer, while the Saag Paneer and Punjabi Chole never fail to satisfy as mains.
For non drinkers, the mocktail selection provides a refreshing alternative. Parking is convenient, with the option to park at Jury's Inn located directly behind the restaurant. While the service could be improved, the overall experience is marked by good food, a great location, and a charming atmosphere.

Very expensive for the experience. The main meals were probably worth every penny but extraordinary prices for poppadoms £5 and mocktails £7. Having recently had a wonderful experience in Rajasthan paying £17 a head, I did expect to pay a little more for Broad Street location but £40 per head including a four year old was excessive. Their website fairly warns service charge will be added for tables of 6 so I was disappointed to be charged £26 service charge for a table of five without warning. Like I said, the main courses were delicious just be warned in advance about the price of "sundries" such as £5 garlic naan or one portion of steamed rice which seemed very steep. £8 for two bottles of water was also unwelcome when we hadn't requested bottled water. Finally, at £42 a mixed platter starter was again delicious but expensive. Great for a treat.

It was Christmas day, so may not be a representative evening.
Food was good, if mild and wine was reasonably priced. Good service.
There was a guy entertaining his friends by singing/ screaming with a guitar... hopefully this isn't a regular attraction.

It's fair to say, the fact that I've been here 3 times, says I like it. I'm not one for expensive restaurants, so this wouldn't normally be somewhere I eat. But sometimes, as they say, you get what you pay for... So, at approx £50 a head, not only is this one of the more expensive restaurants I've been to, but it's also one of the nicest in terms of taste, decor, and quality. To add to that, the service and speed of service has ALWAYS been excellent. Long-story-short... I love it and you have to eat here (trust me!!!)

We really enjoyed it here. Not only was the service 5 star, but the food and vibes and drinks were amazing 👌👌 if your pakistani/indian, you can ask for desi style haandi and they will do just that and it tastes amazing. Will definitely be coming here again. Really made our night perfect, especially after experiencing bad restaurants elsewhere recently. Thank you!

The best service, delivered by serving staff member Sadiq, that I've experienced for a long time: perceptive, timely, tailored, professional, courteous & friendly.
Pushkar offers some of the best examples of British Indian dishes in Birmingham in bright, spacious, exuberant surroundings.
The Curryholic
Arguably the best Indian food in and around Broad St but that's just my opinion. That said you will pay top dollar, a meal for two can cost anywhere between £50 - £100 but it's worth it if you can afford it.
My only gripe is that I wish there was a dish description on the menu, however the waiter can always assist - if they know.
Kushad Ulje
Stylish, light Indian restaurant serving traditional flavours with a modern twist.
The food was great, staff attentive without being over the top and the cocktails were very dangerously tasty, and reasonably priced.
Nij
Fantastic food and impeccable service as has always come to be expected from the team at Pushkar.
Came here for our Christmas meal and we were not disappointed!
The cocktails and drink menu are also not too shabby, make sure to give a try.

This is on my list from a long time and finally got a chance to visit this place. Tried chicken biryani and it tasted delicious. Staff were friendly and ambience was amazing. If you are looking for a place to taste delicious Hyderabadi dum biryani then this is the place.

Expected fine dining experience, staff were great and food was of a decent quality. Was great to see a slight Kenyan fusion within the names of some of the meals! The starters and the drinks were definitely the highlight of my visit.

We went to Pushkar to have dinner. We had ordered a table for 7 but due to last minute surprises we expected 8 people to turn up. The restaurant made us feel very uncomfortable and were rude cause they needed to arrange seating for an extra person.

Going to the food , since we were quite a big group we tried the entire bread basket along with some dhaal, butter chicken , mutton and lamb curry. As for vegetarians like me , they have good spread of paneer , Bhindi and potato curries. The bhindi curry wasn't great and very garlicky for my liking. The quantity of all dishes are in small portion as you would normally expect in a fine dining restaurant.

The drinks menu has quite a descent selection of cocktails and a few mocktails. Would definitely recommend the grape fusion mocktail for non alcoholics.

Overall if you are prepared to put through a bit of bad service in a really busy restaurant you might enjoy the food and the very well crafted and maintained decor of Pushkar.

Service - 2.5
Food - 3.75
Decor - 4
For me, Pushkar has always held the top spot for Indian Cuisine in Birmingham. The decor, the welcome, the cocktails, the wine list and, of course, the food, has always been slightly ahead of the game.

We weren't disappointed last night. Starters consisted of a Trio of Mixed Murgh and a Veg Platter. I'm not sure what the Grilled Scallop Haryali added to the mix - it tasted of, well, Scallop!

Mains were Lamb Ghosht, Kadhai Murgh and Dal Makhani - a real delight and great companion for the Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc.

But guys, what is happening with the gents washroom? Some serious TLC and plumbing required here!

Overall, another great experience, although as the competition for food in Birmingham hots up, Pushkar will need to fight to hold on to that top spot!

One thing that stands out for this place is it's decor, It looks great and it feels great to be there. Location which happens to be Broad Street is another big plus. Visited on a friday night around 10 and it was almost full though it has got lots of space. Food is very nice however quantity is less, Drinks menu is ok. All in all a good place for a lovely fine dine experience.

One of the best fine dine Indian restaurants i have ever been in the UK. Delicious food with proper Indian Tadka and good ambience.
A must go to spend quality time with ur friends and loved ones.
Thank-You.

The decor is classy and everything looks perfect. Unfortunately that seems to be the main focus. Overlooking the bit about when we were seated after quite a bit of dilly-dallying even though we were the second guests to arrive in the entirely empty place(we didn't have a reservation), the lady who took our drinks order sneakily managed to sell us papad (popadoms) with three itsy-bits of chutney.
The mustard prawn were nice as starters - quite different and good to taste, the lamb curry we ordered just didn't feel special.
Overall I def won't be going back.

On a stag weekend in Birmingham we had a meal in pushkars overall can't complain about the meal itself but found the menu to be very limited on top of this our bill included a £49 service charge, if we wanted to give a tip we would have gladly. On top of this the overall bill was £442 gave them £450 still waiting on the change. So when you visit this place make sure they advise before hand they advise you of this wee small matter and if you give the additional funds ENSURE THEY GIVE YOU YOUR CHANGE BACK

Not bad, lovely decor but annoyingly average food, all frills no substance. Much better to be found in Birmingham, try Channi's on Stratford rd simple place with fantastic food.

Push Kar.. One evening we decided to dine at Pushkar's. On checking with the website the menu seemed reasonable. While dining the miniature portions whetted our apetite but did not fill us up. We left the place with empty stomachs and empty pockets! Best to push it out of the way- in Indian it means Push kar!
PushkaR
Birmingham Mail-PushkaR review by Paul Fulford. THERE is style and there is substance, but the two rarely meet.

Which was the fear I haboured before I ate at Pushkar, a new Indian restaurant on Birmingham's bustling Broad Street.

The decor is stunning - lots of pale colours broken by tasteful artwork and eye-catching light fittings.

You enter across a floor lit up like a shimmering blue pond inhabited by moving goldfish.

The chairs are plush and the table settings exquisite.

The wine list, cocktail list and menu, all on scented paper, arrive in a box.

They are brought by pretty and attentive waitresses in almost Grecian-style dresses in a shiny, muted fabric.

For those of us who are old enough to remember, it's like stepping on to the cover of a Roxy Music album circa 1980.

There's a feeling of luxury and slightly dissolute hedonism as you sit there.

Then comes the food from an admirably short menu whose main thrust is northern Indian.

And here my heart skipped a beat, for what we ate was very good indeed. Style and substance had met, shaken hands and formed a damned fine partnership.

The poppadoms we were brought were good, crisp things, though the garishly coloured ones struck me as more a novelty than a treat.

They came with very pleasant sauces.

My starter - Punjabi tokri chaat - was a wonderful collection of things.

There were chickpeas and salads and chutneys in a potato basket topped with an admirably crisp pastry filled with spinach.

My wife Lynn's crab cakes were also well received, as were our son Murray's dahi puri chaat - pastry shells filled with spuds and chickpeas and topped with yoghurt and tamarind sauce.

Main courses, too, delivered.

The awadhi gosht korma I ordered comprised absurdly tender lamb in a rich and delicate sauce with many layers of flavour.

Murray's palialashahi gosht, another lamb dish, likewise won approval.

Perhaps, though, the stars of the show were the creamy but sassy black lentils that Lynn ordered - a satisfying dish of remarkable depth of flavour. But her vegetable kofta dish ran it a close second.

Breads and rice were of a similarly high standard.

The garam masala brulee I ate as a pudding was exemplary in textures and spiced with sensible restraint.

Murray's carrot halwa was a sweet and beguiling thing.

However, Lynn thought the filling of her chocolate samosa a little too firm.

But this is a quibble about classy and tasty food prepared by Bishal Rasaly, a chef with a fine pedigree.

Our very reasonable bill also included cocktails and beer.

Verdict

How much? £76 for three

Vegetarians? Choices

Child friendly? Yes

Disabled access? Fine

Parking? Nearby

Go back? With delight

Value: ££££

Food, decor service: *****

Pushkar, 245 broad street, birmingham. 0121 643 7978.

Superb Restaurant - Don't be put off by the Broad Street Location. We went to Pushkar on Broad Street in Birmingham last week. I had heard rave reviews about if from my friends, so was very excited about eating something different from the usual balti's from the local Indian High Street restaurants, and I have to say Pushkar did not disappoint. The food was amazing, it's all about the flavours rather than the heat of the curry. The waiters were very friendly, they knew the menu very well and even recommended a few dishes to us when we were undecided. One of which was the duck dish that I had which I have to say was absolutely amazing. Normally Indian restaurants let themselves down on the desserts, not here, they had quite a number to choose from including a chocomosa which my friend had (to die for apparently) to the crème brule that I had which was equally superb. It's not the cheapest of places (when you have the cocktails from their extensive cocktail menu like we did), but it is soo worth it and I really can't wait to go back.

Spice up your life!. In the middle of Birmingham's binge-drinking central, attached to a budget hotel, you'll find Pushkar's. Don't let the location put you off! This new edition to Birmingham's ever-maturing epicurean panorama serves the coolest cocktails and sumptuous Indian cuisine that even Ummi Kumar (at Number 42) would be proud off - although it may not be her choice of décor with no flock wallpaper in sight. The clean and simple furniture and decoration shout cool-living, and the stylish lighting and chilled out music make it easy to waste an hour or two sipping cocktails on the bar's high stools. Try a refreshing Garden Julep with cucumber and rose syrup or for the die hard drinkers go for a super-hip Martini in beautiful sculpted glassware. Having worked my way through the cocktail list over my past few visits, I can honestly say there isn't a bad one on there. Much like the food menu which caters for all tastes from the super-hot to the delicately spiced. Vegetarians needn't despair either as there is a good range of dishes. Food presentation is appetising, and not out of character with Birmingham's fine-dining establishments with which Pushkar's holds it's own. Service is spot on and the staff are happy to advise on drinks, and the menu. Dinner with wine will set you back c. £30 per head. Cocktails are around the £6 mark.

The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and passion. The interior is so unique, which should be named as the classy punjabi restaurant. I am a vegetarian and most restaurants round the UK do not have many vegetarian dishes, but pushkar had so much variety it was hard to choose what to order, so this is why I have been many times along with business associates and family, where they all had a fantastic time at pushkar.

Pushkar is a relatively new restaurant, however since going there for the first time in December, it has quickly become my new favourite! I have taken my friends there on several occasions & we have always been impressed with the food, service and cocktails!!
The bar tenders have mesmerised us with their tricks, juggling with bottles and creating delicious drinks & the food as amazed us, its definitely not what you think of when someone says ''fancy a curry?'' its worlds away from the run-of-the-mill Indian.
Dine Birmingham
Pushkar was buzzing and lively. It feels glamorous, yet relaxed at the same time. Though it was busy and lively when I visited it didn’t feel crowded, nor was the service rushed. The tables are well spaced out and this helps to provide a chilled-out atmosphere. - See more at: http://www.dinebirmingham.co.uk/post/93017929456/pushkar-birmingham-review#sthash.UPDuHkuo.dpuf

I’ m a big curry-lover so even a mediocre curry would make the evening for me, but Pushkar’s is a great step out for high-end curry in palatial surroundings. Long live posh curry.
