Valentinos Restaurant

I would highly recommend this place. The food was delicious, authentic and reasonably priced. For the same price as pizzas and pasta from other well known food chains, you can get freshly cooked authentic Italian dishes. I had mushrooms cooked in garlic and white wine followed by seafood risotto. The seafood risotto was the best I've tasted. My friends had a range of dishes and all enjoyed these. The restaurant was clean and modern and the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. I will definitely return.

Food was good in general, but the experience was let down a little by a lack of communication. The one waitress that was on was Italian, which was ok but didn't understand it when we asked for a bowl of Olives pre-meal. Also for an Italian restaurant we were really surprised that NO bread was bought out before the meal. For one of the oldest restaurants in Birmingham I would have thought little touches like that would be the norm. There was a set menu because it was Valentines night, so you couldn't order off the a la carte menu, which again was another thumbs down. Seemed to us like 'get em in get em out' a little bit. Making the most of the Valentine money making thing. Would go back for the food, but even that was a bit pricey for the portions.
