This is such a cool bar/diner/coffee house/lounge room. The food is cracking (Seriously, try the Latino Heat vegan chilli wrap!), the staff are super cool and the vibe is incredible. It's like having a hip New York joint on your doorstep. Don't forget to say Hi to Betty...
Such a lovely gem in the area. They have bought in a selection of fruity sodas, rhubarb soda is a must try! Latte is the best in the area too!

What a gem of a place! There's plenty of coffee shops and fast food on Kingsheath high St but walk past the big chain on the corner and the pasty shop and you'll find this beautiful place, it's opposite EE. Lovely decor and music, the owner is very friendly and has clearly put his all into the place, plenty of seating and it's very clean it's perfect for a working lunch in peace. The food is amazing, very fresh and tastes great, I think its made to order, good veggie options too.
Admittedly it's not the cheapest, however it's well worth it for great food and a chilled atmosphere.

Absolutely loved this place. My second visit but first with family members. The staff and customers were more than willing to make us all feel welcome and put up with our crazy family antics whilst playing board games and causing general mayhem. Apologies again to anyone in to around the location for our loudness.
Love this cosy little cafe/bar, almost hidden in plain sight on Kings Heath high street. Interesting decor, comfy sofas and a relaxed atmosphere make it a great place to escape to if you need to unwind. The staff are helpful and friendly, and brought us complementary snacks while we were working through the extensive G&T menu!
Nice and interesting place. Nice couple of vegan options, even with vegan cheese. Good cider :)

I went for a drink here yesterday afternoon and I love the layout. My first thought was opium den, but I assure you the place was drug-free. It was the decor that gave me that thought. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were good. The ambience of the place is laid back and stylish and I’ll happily go back again.

A great pub to relax in and casual dining venue in the heart of Kings Heath. Superb beer selection, good food with knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's a truly unique space that offers a seductive ambience; an ideal place to unwind and while away the hours. Black Lab offers an alternative backdrop to the standard pub, a gem of a place and one which I visit time and time again. Enjoy.
This place is amazing, Andrea the morning host is brilliant. She knows her coffee better than anyone. She makes the best coffee I have ever tasted. When I go in I just say surprise me with a new drink and she never fails. I would have given 5 stars but because Andrea is not there on Monday, I have to go on Tuesday, starting my week without her amazing coffee.
Nice ambience, good coffee, good falafel wrap and accompanying salad. Both food and coffee seemed a cut above what gets served in some other places, and didn't disappoint, as they sometimes can. The staff were pleasant and chatty. So all in all, very happy with my first visit there, even if all the mainstream 80s music was giving me something of a flashback to my teenage years, and made me feel like I needed to go home and do my Geography homework afterwards...
