What: Malaysian for Dinner
Where: China Town, Birmingham, UK
The Dish: Tea Tarik!! Okay so not a dish but definitely the best drink I have ever had!
Value: £20pp
Food Review: To eat: Prawn Toast, Prawn Balls, Sweet and Sour King Prawn with Egg fried Rice, Fish with Ginger and Spring Onion.
To drink: Tea Tarik
So first to come was the drinks, a couple of Hot Tea Tariks to warm up on a rather cold Friday evening. For those not in the know, Tea Tarik is tea made with sweetened condensed milk. Fresh milk was not used in Malaysia as it was not available so sweetened condensed milk was the healthiest option available.
Whatever the reason, once you've had a taste of this, you will be wondering why it took you so long to try it.
Next the starters, standard East Asia, prawn toast and prawn balls. The prawn toast were better than the prawn balls were both of mediocre standard and seem to have a frozen product standard rather than restaurant standard.
Sober Status: Alcohol is served on site
When I next visit I would have: Lobster
Halal: No
Internal and External Review:
The interior has been revamped in order to serve more people, but it provides a basic asian style, random furniture layout! Bit confusing, (3 people seated on a large 8 people dining table?! ), and random sections to its layout with no flow.
The exterior is basic and could do with showcasing what is inside a bit more.
Sum up: Food is served quickly, but nothing to write home about
We were very pleased with our late afternoon lunch. There is a wide array of meal options which we greatly appreciated. Yet, it was our second Malaysian cuisine experience, hence why it was a bit overwhelming at first. We took our time and we have no regrets whatsoever about our meals. The portions were well-balanced. Staff were speedy and accomodating. We might pop in again, should we be in Birmingham in future.
Very good place to eat. Prices are very reasonable and food is top quality. The staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended
Love having food from here. I enjoy dinning in and takeaway. It’s always great quality. Their customer service is amazing and always cosy. The restaurant is cheep and efficient. They only take cash so be prepared. They can get quietly busy in there so don’t always expect seat.
Haven’t been a while and it’s nice to be back. Good to see that the quality of the food was still pretty good. We particularly enjoyed the sweet and sticky marmite chicken and the hokkien noodles. One major issue we had was the chopsticks. Yes, I know - a bit of a weird gripe but here we are. The chopsticks were wooden and they felt like they were still wet when we were given them. I decided to use a metal fork and spoon in the end just because I really didn’t enjoy the idea of putting a pair of wet chopsticks (most likely soaked in dish water) in my mouth I’ll be honest. Truly hope they consider upgrading their utensils.
Great food and friendly staff, good environment inside too. Veg is a bit expensive.

Lovely drop in Lunch restaurant. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food was large portions and very tasty.
Fantastic place for Asian food, price is about mid-high. Service is friendly and quick.
It Feels like a cafe more than a restaurant, but the restaurant prices.
We had the Hokkien noodles- usually is delicious, but I think the chef was having an off day today.
We also had the beancurd and aubergine clay pot, it was delicious, and the three roast meat dish. There wasn’t much meat on the plate for the price, vs the price you can get from their competitors.
But overall, we come here often and really enjoy it.
Located about 10 mins from bull ring centre, street parking available nearby and can order as take-out. However they only accept cash, so prepare before going
Very nice Malay restaurant indeed! The chicken rice and Char Kway Teow is really authentic with reasonable price. The vibe inside is so traditional Malay too!
📍Malaysian Delight in Birmingham
I’m Searched for Hainanese Chicken Rice near me on google and found this restaurant. 🥢🥡
Here’s what we ordered 👇🏻👇🏻
🍚Hainanese chicken rice
🦐Mee Goreng 🌶
Good food and quick service, my favorite dish is Chicken rice come with spicy chilies sauce 🌶 Some parts of chicken are a bit dry. Topped with sauce or soy sauce, I'm not sure. but very tasty
I asked for more chili sauce and the staff were very nice.👍🏻👍🏻❤️
My Bf ordered Mee Goreng because we used to eat it in Malaysia. I felt it was a little sweet, I really wish I had more fresh chilli. Because we like to eat spicy food very much LoL 😋🌶🔥 will be back again xx
Ps. Make sure you bring cash because the restaurant accepts cash only We have to go find the ATM. 😂😂😂
Still my favourite place to eat in Birmingham city centre. Friendly staff, food is fast and very tasty.
