The high street of Birmingham is filled with over-filled cafés and stops, and it's often difficult to find somewhere quiet to enjoy a drink. I took my chances with Waterstones' café, and was greeted with a friendly face before I was catered for. This is exactly what I expected from the café up one floor from the entrance, and it was bliss. If it wasn't evident from the photo, the hand-crafted latte art was perfect, and this was possible due to the care that came from steaming the milk. I was served by Liz who was attentive to hygiene procedures while steaming milk, ensuring it met the optimal temperature. The little extras that come with a cup of coffee are vital to having a perfect cuppa. Additions such as a saucer and teaspoon make more effort for staff, but go a long way for the consumer when they want to take their time sipping their coffee. And what a perfect time to do so after purchasing a new book, or enjoying the light ambience of pages turning in the environment around you. I had no doubts that Waterstones would know how to make a latte and I am not surprised with what I was served, as the reputable high-street book store continues to upkeep its relaxed yet professional vision. I will be permanently sitting down for a drink when my friends flick through the latest books from now on, enjoying a sip of serenity in peace.

Loved this store so much. I was very interested in the ancient history, as well as theology and philosophy sections, which really piqued my interest, they had so much just under these categories, it took me 40 minutes just to pick what I wanted. If I could've I would have gotten a lot of books. Even the board games and puzzles had me tossing up whether I wanted to spend a lot of money on getting all of them.

Great bookshop .. the sorting of books on the shelves are somewhat challenging in certain areas but it is a good bookshop. Note the additional tills on floors 2 which negates the waiting on the ground floor. Coffee shop good too to recuperate.
