Hacienda Mexican Grill

I travel all over the US on business and rely heavily on these reviews to choose restaurants. So, I'm compelled to commit on very poor restaurants. The service was OK, but the food was not worth the stop and especially not worth paying for. Very salty, grizzly chicken fajita meat. Literally, 2 out of 3 bites had joint or tendon in it. I'm from Texas and know not to expect amazing Mexican food outside our borders but I can honestly say I would have enjoyed Taco Bell more.

Love love love this restaurant! The only place in Birmingham that can truly satisfy my taste for authentic Mexican food. Love their steak tacos with cilantro, lime, and onion. The habanero salsa is awesome! The chicken soup is so perfect especially when your feeling under the weather or its cold outside!

The other places in this area are a few dollars cheaper, but the food there is way better. Margaritas are 1/2 off on monday. They have other specials, but don't advertise very well. Their salsa is the best in town . There's actual chunks of stuff , like they make it or something , not from a can, or a bag.

My wife found them through Groupon before we took a road trip. We knew we'd be driving through around dinner on our way home, so decided to pick up the groupon. I've been to mexican restaurants similiar to Hacienda by home that are great, but Hacienda was better! The salsa they brought out to us (with chips) with our menu was wonderful. The onions and celantra added an extra kick I wasn't use to. The shell bowl of my taco salad was a little more well done than I'd like (almost, but not quite burnt). It was still really good, but I'd prefer a little less cooked. The menu provided a lot of options/combinations in quite a range of prices. Their atmosphere was really unique. All the chairs appear to be hand-carved-ish, and the various statues and decorations are really nice. The estimated cost per person of $11-$15 Per Person includes drinks and tip. Next time we go south, we'll have to plan around this place!

This place has the best carne asada tacos I have ever had in Birmingham. I order them with corn tortillas and the extras on the side (cilantro, onions, habanero salsa). Be careful with the habanero salsa! Their other food is good, but I haven't had anything there other than the carne asada tacos for a long time.
