Nice comfort food.
Went out with a friend for a dinner, we took platter for 1 which was perfectly enough for two of us.
Good fast service , lovely staff not pushy, giving honest advice about size of the portion, clean place.
Unfortunately no parking and the off street was all taken so had to use Morrisons one which is free 2 hrs only. It was good enough tume for us but if you are planning on a lengthy dinner you might want to find different opinion.
It is definitely a place to come back to.
The staff were lovely. The food was nice. We got 2 medium tavas, and the portion was decent for 3-4 people. We got one spicy and the other medium. The spicy one was the perfect spice.. Medium was more like a mild with a little kick. So I would definitely go for the spicy again.
Recently, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at Hawam Tawa & Grill, a restaurant that came highly recommended. We arrived an hour before closing and were pleasantly surprised to find the place nearly empty, with ample seating available. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who set the tone for an exceptional dining experience.
Our main purpose for visiting was to sample their renowned Tawa Grill, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight. This sizzling creation had everything we could have dreamed of, all beautifully cooked on their tawa. From succulent chicken karahi and lamb karahi to tantalizing lamb chops, chicken tikka, lamb kebab, and even curly fries, this tawa had it all. It was like a culinary adventure on a single platter. The addition of a mix of naan and rotis, along with a touch of rice, completed this mouthwatering ensemble. The portion size was beyond generous and easily satisfied the appetites of our family of four.
Although the Tawa Grill stole the show, we also indulged in some irresistible extras. The chicken pakoras were skillfully battered and bursting with flavor, providing a perfect start to our meal. The crispy pappadoms added a delightful crunch, and the jug of mango lassi, with its creamy and thick consistency, was the ultimate refreshing companion to our feast.
What truly made our experience memorable, however, was the exceptional service provided by both the staff and the owner. Their warm and friendly demeanor made us feel like valued guests, and their attentiveness throughout the meal was commendable. It's not often that you come across such genuine hospitality.
Would I visit Hawam Tawa & Grill again? Most definitely! This hidden gem has won me over with its scrumptious Tawa Grill and top-notch service. If you're in search of a fulfilling and satisfying meal for your family, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Hawam Tawa & Grill is a culinary haven that deserves all the praise it receives.
We ordered tawa for 2 people and it was delicious. Portion was great and we're looking forward to visiting again. We also ordered pink tea and karak chai which were also very nice. We were served by Munir Ahmad and Roopa, they were very friendly and hospitable. The chef also came out to greet us. She was humble and easy to have a chat with.
Had a very pleasant experience. Clean establishment with great service from staff. The ladies front of house were helpful and I got the feeling that it's a family run restaurant.
I ordered a regular tawa and it was very nice.good portions for 2 people, the spice level was perfect as we chose medium. It was well cooked and the flavours were good. I think my only issue is that the lamb chops were a little charred and the lamb and chicken curry needed more masala to accompany the meat. Other than that, everything else was lovely.
I would visit again, hopefully taking the family and would certainly recommend others to try. The chef and the majority of the staff were all women, which is a refreshing change in this industry, so many thanks to all of them for their efforts. The price was a little more that what is use to be, but this is generally the trend for many restaurants now. I would say it's competitive to others. I hope to visit again.
We did visit again, and the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. Especially the prawn Puri, but I do wish, there were more of the prawns.
Always love coming here!
We are locals in Acocks Green, and have gone to several difficult restaurants here. We can confidently say, in terms of overall taste, services, and value for money this restaurant is our number 1 so far. We ordered a tawa for one person because we weren’t that hungry, but oh boy the portion was so generous, such that we have to pack some home! Special mentioning to our waitress Rupa who’s so kind in her service to us—will definitely be returning back!
After a second visit to Hawam the food was absolutely amazing, we ordered the Tawa which contained a variety of delicious curries, rice, lamb chops and chicken tikka. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, finally the tea served in a matka was delicious. High recommended
The food is awesome. The Tawa grill was enough to feed our family of 8.
The price was perfect and the service was great although slow the brothers tried their best.
They even have a prayer room upstairs may Allah bless them.
Food is honestly really good and worth the wait. However considering we went at a quiet time with only 3 tables, found the service to be a issue, likely understaffed. Cutlery was dirty and not cleaned properly, parts of the Tawah food was cold like the curly fries, naan, but after the long wait we didn’t want it to be taken back. Had to ask them to put more Cajun powder on the fries. Had to eat Keema naan without sauces, basically chase them to give us anything, waiting a while for drinks, kids meals and the bill. Also important note, too much salt on the spices for the starters! Almost ruined the meal.
Recommend 2 visits minimum!
Price: Value for money, the Medium Tawah, 2 kids meals, coke jug, 2 little bowls of ice cream for Bargain £65
Revisit: Yes! Food Quality is good!
Favourite Bit: Taste of the chicken Karahi, value for money
Least favourite: Service, Cleanliness, Salt level on starters
Overall: 4/5 why? Because they are a family business that genuinely look like they care and are trying hard. Food quality is actually good, it might have been a one off on the salt, sure the rest will improve.
One of the best in Brum tbh. Everything was perfectly cooked and mouth watering. Lady there who served us was sooo nice, helpful and polite.
The Tawa was for two person but 3 person can eat it easily.
