An interesting combination of music and book shop and a little coffee house. Seemingly unchanged forever, the shelves are full of interesting and carefully categorised books, CDs and records.
The cafe is small and cosy, serving teas, coffees and little cakes (mostly tray bakes). The prices are reasonable and service speedy and friendly.

Just as a change of scenery today we left the wonderful Green Man Festival in Clun and finished the afternoon at Yarborough House in Bishops Castle. How good it was to still find such a quirky, charming, gem of a place in our sad Americanised island that lacks any degree of taste and class.
Thank you , Carol for your lovely tea, cakes , CD and Bookshop.

Haven't been for many years but this heaven on earth if you like books, LPs, CDs, coffee and cakes. Spent many a Sunday afternoon here and a great place to pick up unusual music!

I have to declare an interest as son-in-law to the owners, but Yarborough House really is a lovely place to browse second-hand books and classical CDs as well as enjoy a cuppa and cake, conveniently located near other interesting shops and pubs.

Excellent shop. I first came to Yarborough House in 1981 and it is one of the few shops that has remained unchanged and under the same ownership since then. It feels like a time warp. In those days it was one of many second hand classical LP shops in the UK. But most of those shops have long gone. Yarborough was (and continues to be) exceptionally rare in having a big stock of specifically classical LPs and CDs but located in a small border town. The owner is very knowledgeable about classical music and part of the pleasure of visiting is finding rare or obscure discs that would be hard to find elsewhere. It does feel like an annual pilgrimage and I expect that, like me, other enthusiasts are prepared to travel over a hundred miles to see what's new in stock. The shop also sells a good range of second hand books and there is a very nice cafe in which to unwind after an hour's earnest CD searching - time to gloat over the spoils! Yarborough House is a lovely bit of old England. An institution for those in the know; and one of the reasons why Bishop's Castle is such a special, distinctive and endearingly idiosyncratic town to visit.

Great individual coffee/book shop. We always call in when visiting Bishops Castle. There are toys that my kids play with in a little basket, nice touch. Plenty of greetings cards to choose from too.

Fancy a cuppa, or more importantly a mug of coffee in an interesting environment where one may browse old books and periodicals, then spend some quality time at the Yarborough. It's easy to find because its in the square at the top of Bishops Castle main street. The façade has recently been painted a reddish colour. Parking is available nearby.

Great place to visit, a variety of books, records and CDs and you can enjoy coffee and cake in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Always a favourite when we're in Bishop's Castle.

Lots of classical music for sale both records and CD but mostly records. Much more besides including books. Also a cafe where we had a matrimony cake and coffees. We'll worth a look round.
