Definitely a delight to have authentic home-cooked food from Kerala in the UK. It was a pleasant surprise to find this haven in Blackburn. I definitely recommend for the non-vegetarian lovers, but there are many options for the veggie lovers too. A beautifully concocted paneer and mushroom dish - Dingri Dolma - seems the chef speciality. The naan were soft and melted in my mouth with the luscious gravy-based dishes I tried. The Masala Dosa with three chutneys and Sambhar were appetizing and seemed like a huge crowd favorite. Fear not there are fries to go alongside. To finish off, I recommend the Paalada - a sweet pudding made of rice. Something that reminded me of childhood memories. A delicacy cooked by my grandfather and sometimes my mother eons ago! I would recommend eating here more than once each week as the ambiance is comforting and simple. It definitely feels lighter on the purses too.
One of (if not the) best Indian meals I have ever eaten.
It's a small, family run restaurant so don't expect a slick operation of super quick and attentive service. But if you don't mind waiting a short while for your food (we were in a large party of ten however) then honestly, try this place!.
Absolutely delicious food and lovely owners.
Really enjoyed our meal on Sunday. Food came in good time and was delicious. Reasonably priced too. Our waitress was lovely, thanks !
Superb levels of deep flavours. These dishes are not quick flash fried food. The food is treated with the care and respect you would hope more restaurants could manage but often don’t. The uniqueness of these South Indian flavours are way above the competition in this area
We loved our first visit.. will come back often
Visited this South Indian restaurant in Blackburn which serves decent south Indian food. I ordered 1 pint of Budweiser Beer, 1 masala dosa, a portion of appam (2pcs) and Kerala Kozhi Roast which was Chicken in semi dry gravy. I loved the dosa more than everything else. The total bill was £20. Being a Saturday the restaurant was pretty empty but worth a visit.
Been there a couple of times. Tasty South Indian food ( Kerala). Would recommend to all Mallu friends out there. The service and atmosphere is great but the prices are a bit high.
Thira restaurant is one of my fave places to get south indian food. Masala dosa medu vada uttapam & lots of other dishes which are very nice to eat. Love the sambhar & the coconut chutney with the dosas & the medu vada. Just takes you back to memories of india. Peshwari naan is one of my faves coz its full of coconut. Lots of dishes have coconut & coconut milk. I like the butter chicken & the butter paneer. Also they do different rotis & naans & rice dishes too. One is also with coconut just like the naan. Nice to try different kinds of foods from different regions of india. Very tasty & something different. They do a lot of seafood & fish dishes which i have not tried yet so thats next on my list. Lovely restaurant service & delivery service too
Wow, I was impressed! Firstly the food is cooked fresh to order, yes even the meat, and it makes such a difference. The spicing is excellent and there are distinctive flavours as described in the menu. Service is excellent and the owner cares enough to come to every table to ask if everything is ok. Authentic and absolutely delicious.
Fabulous restaurant, great tasty authentic food and excellent service, so good I took a photo of all the staff.
We called at lunchtime and had the special vegetarian Thali offer of; 2 curry's, a daal, a side dish, a puri, rice and small rice pudding type dessert...all for £7.50!!! Excellent value. They may be small but they were all freshly made and tasty and filled us up. They also do a fish/prawn thali and a chicken or lamb one.
Had a great chat with the lovely owner Iyer, who told us about his newly opened restaurant in Farnworth, we'll definitely be visiting 😀
Never miss the sea bass pollichathu. It is spicy but really delicious that you can seldom find in other Indian restaurants.
Although something of an unusual layout inside it's was a very handy location in Town Centre.
Really nice selection on menu and some different dishes to the usual Indian food.
The food was excellent cooked just right.
Staff were friendly
It was quite quiet when we went, which was a shame. However the food and service were superb. It is South Indian cuisine which is a change from most Indian restaurants in the area, lots of coconut and spices. The food was tasty rather than just spicy, which again can be the case in some restaurants.
Absolutely would recommend and will be going again.
