Very friendly staff and owners. Took our orders even though kitchen was about to close and we had some recommendations.
The food was excellent:
Fish and chips
Steak and Ale pie (the pastry was excellent)
Chicken breast with potatoes.
All very delicious.
Very dog friendly too 😃
Would definitely come back if in the area!

Very nice pub great staff and the food was excellent - we also stayed at the campsite which was very good - building a new toilet/shower block not yet open but they leave pub toilets open all night for the campers. Take care in wet weather the bottom pitches to the left do get very wet although all have hard standings.

We camped here and loved it although the weather was not kind and the grass had just been cut and left in the field so grass cutting were everywhere...
We had one meal here and the food was spectacular. Service and staff were also excellent. We all enjoyed the starters, mains and deserts and came away stuffed and happy. I have to knock off one star for the very low hygiene rating. Hopefully, they can 'up' this to a more reasonable rating.
The toilet facilities could also do with a little TLC and as it is shared with the campsite it did run low of maintenance, soap and toilet paper.

What an amazing friendly pub run by awesome people. Only went for one night to see friends but definitely going back again... the mountain range views are jaw dropping

Came here yesterday for food for the first time. I only ever actually came here once 7 years ago to see Father Christmas after a ride on the steam train.
The staff were really attentive and friendly. One of the servers "Ray" for a young guy had excellent customer service and is an asset to the team. Even though he thought our 1 year old was a boy at first. To be fair she was wearing navy blue so you can tell these days. We had a laugh to ourselves.
Anyway the food was absolutely stunning 😍 the coleslaw was to die for. Best I've had . Chips nice and chunky. Presentation spot on. Price was also really good 👍 we definitely will be back and using this as our go to place in future. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the campsite & ate in the pub it was so good that we stayed another night & ate again. Service was brilliant & Ray (new guy) was really friendly. Great value for money.

First time visit and it won't be my last. The food was outstanding with big portions. Highly recommend the Big Pit Burger.. Wow!! I wanted a dessert but couldn't fit one in!!
Staff were super friendly, helpful and just so pleasant.
Lovely views from the conservatory, small park for the kids and a great atmosphere.
Already planning another visit.. That's how good it was!

We didn't have a meal, just a cup of coffee which came out of a machine. Nice enough but would've been nicer if it was freshly made. Service was good & staff polite. The Sunday dinner being served smelt lovely but we didn't want anything to eat at the time. From what I understand, booking is advisable for Sunday's. When I return to the area to go on a hike, may very well revisit this quaint, cosy pub & have a meal next time.

Lovely cook dinner not to. My taste. I'm not a fan of hard veg sorry chicken was lush. lovely people lovely place and nothing was to much trouble we did have a long wait but it was mother's day so expected my son said other meals he's had was delicious so it's only my opinion I'm a soft veg girl. Lol but I give 5 stars
