Westbourne Grill House

We have been meaning to dine here for sometime based on recommendations. I'm so pleased we've finally been. We ordered the cote de boeuf and it was cooked perfectly to our taste (rare), the sides were plentiful and the sauces delicious. Thank you for a fabmntastic evening Westbourne Grill House. You will certainly see us again.

So we've been meaning to visit here for a while now, after seeing all the good reviews. We can say it lived up to and exceeded all the good reviews. We opted for the cote de boef It was full and flavour and cooked to perfection, we went for rare. Its safe to say it's the best steak we've had in a long time. The service was attentive and friendly. Can def recommend.

One of the best steak houses I've ever been to! I highly recommend this restaurant. I made a booking for one last minute and they accommodated me quickly. Unfortunately, when I arrived and was shown to my table it was laid up for two and the waitress even put down a second menu. I chose what I wanted and was seen to quite quickly. Despite ordering a glass of wine, one starter and one main, the waitress then asked if I was waiting for anyone. As a single dinner this repeated assumption that I must be with someone else made me feel quite saddened, especially as I had pre-booked for one. The wine was very good, and the starter came out in a flash. I had ordered whitebait but what I was presented with was surprising small considering it's £8 (roughly) price tag. The fish was good and the batter was done well. The accompanying sauce/dip and salad were both good as well. The main issue was portion size for me, especially as I see whitebait as a cheap option in normal restaurants. I had the rib-eye steak at £30 (roughly) and ordered it blue. Something that is always risky in my experience, but the chef did it to perfection. I think it is the best blue steak I have had in all of the Bournemouth area. The garlic butter was divine and the chips and onion rings were well prepared. The grilled tomatoes were very good, I must say. Over all, the food was absolutely exceptional and the service was absolutely on point! Except for the price and size of the whitebait and the service making me feel a tiny bit awkward for being alone, I would have given 5* across the board. The place is quite pricey, for me alone with just a starter, main and two drinks plus the tip came to £70. However, the steak was so good that I would still recommend it if you are able to afford it.

Some of the best quality local food I've been fortunate enough to eat. Warm and friendly staff made the whole experience a pleasure that we all can't wait to enjoy again. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Visit the Westbourne Grill House for yourself and be the judge for yourself, you won't be disappointed! Oh and the wine list is spot on too!!

Shame I can't give 4.5 stars but felt the need to drop it slightly due to 2 things. First, the steak we ordered was heavy flavoured by rosemary. The steak was perfectly cooked and so tasty but as a non rosemary lover, I would have preferred to be pre-warned via the menu about the strong herb as I would have requested this to be left off. The flavour of the steak, with simple salt and pepper would do as the steak is such good quality and cooked so nicely. Secondly, it was a shame the chips were not hand-cut chips and didn't have the peri chilli seasoning on them. Plain hand-cut chips would have been nice and I had the choice of putting my own salt on. Really nice place to go and would recommend this place for anyone in the area due to the quality of the steak and nice service.
