The best chip shop in town by far. Highly recommended, and I've lived in Bournemouth for 25+ years, so tried most of them. Fantastic 'Fishtales' all round! Hygiene is excellent. As soon as you walk in you can see and smell the cleanliness, fresh oil and are welcomed with a smile. Staff are polite, friendly and genuinely warm hearted. To the food. High quality ingredients, the chips are perfectly cooked, generously sized, taste great. 10/10 Pea fritters - full of flavour, crisp batter served as a potion of three mini delights. 10/10. Curry sauce is amazing. Chinese style, perfectly balanced flavour, not too sweet, served at perfect temperature for dipping. As you can imagine the fish is sustainably sourced and cooked to perfection. The packaging is eco-friendly, cardboard and food paper in the box. Top marks. Reasonably priced. Bonus- Free sauce of your choice with every meal, and it's quality sauce! This place is a gem, and you'll be sure to taste the passion for quality, and excellent service by a local family run business. You won't be disappointed with Fishtales.

I went to this place this evening and ordered large cod and large chips, curry sauce. It was cooked fresh while I waited. Cod fillet was very big; it nearly filled a dinner plate and was chunky too. Batter thin and crispy. Well worth the £7.70. I barely managed to eat it all. Chip portion didn’t look large in box (as I’m used to paper) but they were crammed in. Piled up like a pyramid when on plate, could not manage last handful. I’m marking 1 star down as chips weren’t quite as crispy as I like. Curry sauce was pretty good and there was just enough of it for all the food.
