The Chef reccomendThis place has gone downhill since Mark and his wife left. Used to be heaving - Yesterday it was empty. Staff missed things off our order, no one came to check how things were and portions seemed smaller than previous visits. The customer service just isn’t what it used to be.
We were not overwhelmed with the food and drink here. The scones were not warmed, in our opinion churros average and the hot chocolate while very rich had an interesting hint of marmite taste or similar, which might simply be a salt.
We ate here yesterday and it was super tasty and well priced !! I couldn’t eat all of my dessert but I enjoyed every mouthful
Absolutely dreadful. Milkshakes were lumpy & tasteless. The churo’s were hard & we took them back & one of the lady’s pulled a face. The replacement not any better either. Sadly disappointed & the waffle was average. Seating inside was uncomfortable & the music loud and awful. We sat outside even though it was raining with a complimentary blanket .. nicest thing there. We were really looking forward to it & should’ve walked out with our first impressions of the smell of sweat when we walked in. Mac Donald’s do a better milkshake. AVOID
Everytime we come here we love it however today the Thick milkshake had the consistency of milk, the churros came stone cold which I didn't think was possible, the usual jovial English fella wasn't in maybe that's why it didn't go well, very disappointed.
Incredible Cafe. The kids were desperate to go because... chocolate obviously! We came in quite late in the day unaware that they were supposed to be closing early but the owner could not have made us feel more welcome. The kids took ages choosing what they wanted but we didn't feel rushed at all. The hot chocolate was superb: my 9 year old boy said it was the best hot chocolate he's ever had! My little girl had a slice of cake and the owner gave us 2 pieces because "it just fell onto the plate!" Pot of tea was perfect. The kids loved reading all the chocolate quotes on the walls. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Nice menu and the chocolate drink is delicious, as are the churros. However our visit was spoiled somewhat by what would appear to be friends of one of the waitresses who were also dining. They were quite loud and almost shouting in a foreign language to her, it was a relief when they finally left.
I came here with my friends today for a little treat! It was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced for the portion size. The owner was so lovely and friendly! She even let us try some of the speciality hot chocolates flavours for free! Will definitely return and tell my friends and family about it! Amazing additional to Bowness! ❤️
Called in on Friday at 4.15 and received a warm welcome from the manager. We had a regular hot Belgian chocolate each plus a cherry almond muffin. Absolutely delicious. We shall certainly return and have no hesitation recommending the ChoccoBar.
I love this place but please update your opening hours. I’ve travelled through three times, most recently on Mon 11th Nov to arrive and find it shut. Very disappointed
Weekend break to celebrate my sisters BIG birthday & stopped off for a wee hot chocolate...what can i say...superb food and drink menu with amazing choice of flavours & a choice of 2 strengths...between the 4 of us we sampled both along with a sharing plate of Churros-everything delicious! Great friendly customer service & Rhona kindly offered to let us sample a fair few other flavours, between our own drinks & samples these all come recommended..salted caramel, chilli, coconut, smokey bacon, rhubarb & custard, baillies, apple & cinnamon, rasperberry, orange. Definitely worth a visit & you can be sure Rhona & her crew will offer you a warm welcome! Looking forward to returning on our next trip to the Lakes💞☕
Stopped in for a hot choc on 2nd Nov with my mum and sisters while visiting Windermere for the weekend and was hugely impressed! Massive choice of hot chocs - some weird (choc and bacon 😃), some wonderful 😄 (salted caramel, Bailleys, Choc orange) - but if you're not sure the staff encourage you to have a free taster which was good fun. Rhona was very friendly, helpful and chatty as were her staff. Lovely place with fun choc statements hung around the walls. We had hot chocs and churros... all delicious! Highly recommended!
Me and my partner love to come to the lakes especially to visit the choccobar, the hot chocolate’s are out of this world. Ours came with thick cream in a bowl on the side with some strawberries and a finger sponge biscuit to dip. Also the waffles are AMAZING!!! Literally the nicest waffles ever and they do an oreo one now. Couldn’t recommend choccobar enough. Oh and also they bale there cookies fresh in the morning too.
Lovely chocolate drink and delicious cheese and tomato toasties. Just popped in as never visited there before. A warm welcome from Rhona who was a fabulous host. There were tables inside and outside. Worth a visit anytime.
Me and my Mam visited here as we really fancied the waffles. The place was quite busy but we managed to get a table in the corner although it was cold as they’d left the door open. Even though there was plenty of staff, they didn’t seem to know their menu well as they advertise special waffles but these don’t seem to exist. My Mam went for the Oreo brownie waffle whilst I had the banoffee one. I felt like the brownie one had loads of toppings on but mine, which I’d paid more for, didn’t have much on the waffle. It was nice that you could choose the flavour of ice cream to go with it though. We paid £14 altogether which is a bit pricey but a nice treat. Service was very slow and we waited quite a long time for the waffles. I’m sure they only had one waffle maker which isn’t good when it’s a popular dish. I probably would return though.
We arrived early and treated ourselves to churros and waffles. Both the children and myself thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The premises were very clean and service quick and friendly. Thank you very much !
For the price you pay you would expect more taste and the meal to arrive at the same time. Panni very bland, strawberries on waffle were not fresh if not out of date. We won't be going back.
We stopped here today and they said they were closing early as they had run out of food but could do us a hot chocolate. We got the hot chocolate and it was honestly out of this world. My first visit and I cannot wait to go back. They were lovely enough to also bring us a couple of cakes which were also chocolately goodness. Friendly guys and amazing chocolate, I can't wait to go back and try the rest 😍
We arrived at 1:05 and is now 1:45 I’ve just had to ask for my water again of witch I have been waiting for for 40 minutes we’re still waiting for are 2 waffles and quite frankly we’re fed up of waiting think it has changed ownership as I used to really enjoy it here now i will never be returning had been waiting 50 minutes for this to arrive and had forgot about my friends so will now be waiting for another 50 minutes for that to arrive this is a joke the centre of my waffle also wasn’t cooked...

First time at Choccobar and an excellent experience Walked in and welcomed by the staff, surprised by how many staff they had behind the counter at least 5 or more Milkshakes were great and my partner loved the churros, my mother having a tea and cake Only thing I would say is we had to sit with our coats on as the shop was absolutely freezing inside
