Lunch at the 5 Bells Sunday 1 Oct 2023.
We had a lovely lunch today at the 5 Bells. Such a pretty place! Staff were excellent, I had requested a table with some room around it due to one of our party being almost blind, elderly and unsteady on their feet and the staff had identified 2 tables for us to choose from.
Nice menu with Sunday roast options and other choices (fish was skate, beautifully cooked).
Service was very professional, attentive... really effortlessly perfect.
Along with the skate, we had thyme roasted chicken (succulent and bursting with flavour) and pork belly (my husband's empty plate said it all). Roast potatoes- perfect. Cabbage and cauliflower cheese - perfect. Yorkshire and gravy - perfect!
Perfect portion sizes for us.
This is our second visit in 2 weeks and we are hooked. Definitely offering elevated pub food... but the staff, both back and front of house, add something extra special.
If you're walking around the Wye Downs, this is a great pub to stop for lunch. They serve some unique ciders which are really good. I tried the apricot one and although quite sweet, goes down a treat! The space is lovely inside and out, with a quirky unisex toilet. We were a big group, so we sat at a reserved section outside under the canopy, and service was on time and they didn't miss any of the 20 orders! The SEA BREAM FILLET,
Prawn Risotto, Seasonal Greens was fresh and well seasoned. Would highly recommend! Next time maybe I'll stay at the hotel!
We’ve been visiting this lovely pub for the last 5 years, we stay in a local campsite and enjoy an afternoon here having jolly japes.
The location is beautiful, with a lovely selection of local real ales and a seasonal menu.
The harissa prawns and Rhubarb Pavlova were epic!
We had a boss time this year and the lovely Lee and Sonia looked after us Tremendously… we’ll be back again next year!
Wonderful stay! Fantastic rooms, great food, lovely atmosphere in the pub, and the staff are absolutely superb. We had to arrive a little later in the evening and the management were so accommodating & helpful. Beautiful quiet area too. Will absolutely visit again & highly recommend.
I’m don’t usually do reviews but this place throughly deserves one. We stopped off here from Le Shuttle with two hungry tired kids. The staff were so lovely and very attentive. The pub itself is amazing, the decor is gorgeous - a lovely pub feel but with a contemporary twist. Excellent food including the children’s menu, and excellent service. Thank you!
We had some lunch here on a quiet Tuesday and it was lovely, the food was good, the staff really attentive and personal, we felt like nothing was too much to ask. The garden was also very nice with lots of space. The area is stunning! We will definitely be back
Amazing!!!! Having stayed at a few places close to the tunnel before, expectations weren't high.
However, the 5 Bells is in a different league!!! Amazing welcome upon arrival, a beautiful room, fantastic dinner and tip top service all in one! Literally could not have expected better, or more friendly and personable service!
Have NO doubt about visiting/ staying, you will not be disappointed!
Thanks for a great dinner and a lovely experience!!
I had a evening meal with my partner and we were really welcomed into the restaurant by Simon. We were promptly seated and overall the food, service and drinks were top notch and we loved the customer service provided by the team. A big shout out to the team on Friday evening. A great place to eat and drink will definitely return.
Fantastic welcome from the efficient staff at this beautiful country pub. Lots of seating in the garden, gazebo/covered area and inside. Good drinks range and tasty food. Planning to stay over next time to fully enjoy the atmosphere and wine list!
I had the cauliflower burger. I’m not a veggie but it was the best burger I’ve ever had! Husband had pork belly which was soft and epic crackling. So good I’m going back today and booking Christmas lunch. My new favourite pub!
