The Canal Tavern has been through a few hands since I've been visiting; some legendary landlords, some not so much. The current incumbent seems to be doing a pretty solid job of running a pub - hasn't ruined the subtle ambience or gone "gastro", although in truth I haven't tried the food. The garden is a nice place to sit with a pint, especially under cover from the rain, and the Guinness is nicely served if a bit pricey.
Friendly pub, great food, sat on deck overlooking the canal.
We had a lovely lunch here as a party of four. Despite also trying to juggle the demands of a hen party, staff were really attentive, friendly and quick. The barman was really lovely when taking the food order for my friend, who for various health reasons can’t eat this or that. We really enjoyed our lunch here and would certainly come again.
Lively little pub next to the canal. Food was excellent, and the gentleman working the bar/kitchen was very friendly and welcoming.
Will visit again soon.
Very cosy interior and really great food. Prices are quite high. Would recommend
Isaac was a brilliant host, very accommodating. I turned up after what I’m sure was a long shift for him and he still managed to get a smile out of me. I would sincerely recommend this pub to anyone who passes through. Thanks so much guys for the great reception, hope to see you guys again, thanks for a great visit!!
Food was a little slow but worth the wait. It was a particularly busy day, so in all fairness, they did well. Front of house needs a bit more organisation but overall a very nice breakfast
Slight delay on the menu, still only serving the breakfast menu at 13 15. But happy friendly staff that asked the chef to serve some chips, which were very nice and plenty of them. 1 negative is only 2 staff on a very busy afternoon and 1 wasn't able to serve alcohol as too young.
On our way home from our canal walk from the Dundas Aqueduct to the Claverton pumping station and Warleigh Weir we parked at the Train Station car park in Bradford-On-Avon and walk up to the Canal Tavern for a bite to eat.
This is a nice pub in a picturesque location with lovely outside seating areas surrounded by pretty flowers,we never had to wait long for our order as they serve food all day long.
I had a lovely burger and a mug of chips the Mrs had a cheese and pickle sandwich washed down with orange juice.Very enjoyable.
Lovely friendly staff. We had 2 roast beef lunches, very tasty and very filling! Great spot to eat, next to the canal. Would recommend.
