The Tavern

My family and I were staying at a nearby BnB in Brean for two of nights and we went to the Tavern on both of them - the entertainment for the kids is second-to-none. The host of the evening, "Captain Crumble" was really funny - a proper old school entertainer who had the kids eating out of his hand (not literally!) - even as an adult I can say that I was entertained - he's really quite hilarious and his games are engaging for the children (mine are 9 and 12). Activities included Bingo, kids' games and live music ( a Wurzels tribute act and a great female vocalist, Hayley, were both great - the latter mingled with guests and took requests). We only had food once, on the second visit, and it was really nice. Both my wife and I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was plentiful and very tasty - great value for money considering the size of the portion. I had some Guinness - the young lady who served me told me she was great pouring it and she wasn't lying - it was perfect. Attempts by her colleagues were excellent too. In fact, given how busy the place was (our visit coincided with half term) they were never less than pleasant and accommodating during both visits. All in all, we had a lovely time and plan to go back over the summer.

We had the best weekend here and the absolute highlight was Captain Crumble. A fantastic all round entertainer who is adored by all children and kept the audience entertained the entire evening with his fun, engaging and original material. From 2 to 92 everyone had fun and for sure we will be back again this year. Thank you Captain Crumble for making our holiday so special, see you as soon as we can get back…..the kids are already nagging us!
