Not often you want to leave a good feedback, but this place made me feel “I want to share my great experience!”. Great place in in and out. Cozy inside, comfortable seats outside with umbrella, which saved us from the sun and rain at later stages. Toilets are clean and smell nice. Food is delicious, every single meal we had was great! Awesome, attentive service! We were even given a refund for an error with starters, which didn’t bother us too much, but these people cared! This was simply unusual and evolves a lot of credit to those who run this place. Thank you guys! The best pub I’ve ever visited. Not long to be back :)
Although very busy we were seated promptly to our booked table.
Order was reasonably taken and served within an acceptable time.
Ambience was good.
Tables were placed in good positions as they weren’t too near the next group of guests.
Food was of a high standard and we all had staked. However, bearing in mind our table was booked early in the evening it was very disappointing to find that two of our part were not able to have their first choice of steak as my husband and I had ordered the last two. They had to have the second choice on the menu. But, we all still enjoyed our meal. How could this happen so early in the evening? Stock needs to be reviewed knowing how popular steaks are ordered.
We would visit again.

The best part is that it's dog friendly.
Our meal was tasty. We each had fish and chips. The fish was a good size and the batter was crispy. We had good weather so we sat in the garden which is nice enough, nothing too special. Inside was fairly crowded but we were served in good time and didn't have to wait long to be served or food. The website didn't work for us so we had to order at the bar but there was no queue so that wasn't a problem.

Lovely traditional pub with good food, service, and also dog friendly. My whole family loves it here, and my dogs tries to pull me in every time we're walking past.
We visited for my mums birthday today and Leigh and the team treated us amazing! Little did she know that my mum needed this welcome and birthday meal more than ever. This has become a monthly treat now meeting with friends, we lunched on Tuesday, the round table, chose 3 starters to share before tasty mains. No room for dessert!!!! Our waitress was perfect, attentive and obliging to our requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our happy experience.
Such a lovely meal here at The Black Horse. The pub always had such a calming and relaxed atmosphere. The food was so tasty and the service was amazing. I’ve been too the Black Horse a few times and you can see exactly why this pub is well known in Brentwood. The team here who work so hard are the reason this why people enjoy coming here so much. They are so warm and friendly and always deliver more than just a robotic service like most places. They truly care for the people who walked through their door and will always go the extra mile. Thank you for such a lovely evening.
Had lunch with family (5 of us) today. Very happy with food and excellent service from Jackie. Very pleasant and although the restaurant was busy made us welcome and was very helpful and efficient to other tables generally. Thank you.
The Black Horse was a regular haunt in my youth. Not visited for years but glad I did this time. Food was great. Service was good. Only down side was that it was rather gloomy where we were sitting... the lighting is very low, so low we kept hitting our heads on the lamp shade hanging over our table. On the whole though it was a very nice meal.
