Haven't been here for years, but hasn't altered much. Perhaps a little dingy and in need of a refurb but enjoyed our meal all the same. It is nice to see some more unusual items on the menu such venison and guinea fowl, both of which were very good. My only criticism was my starter of brie and cranberry filo parcels, When using filo you should brush the layers with melted butter, whereas these had either been brushed with oil, or I even wondered if they had been deep fried as they were very oily and even worse, they tasted as if the oil needed changing, so not good at all.

Fantastic meal tonight celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food and service are second to none, by far the best in Bridlington. Totally recommend to anyone wanting quality and something special and most reasonable prices.

No I don't have shares in the Lamp :-) I love its quaintness, its traditional atmosphere, the lamp doesn't pretend its anything its not. This is not Michellin 'farty food'. This is a fine dining experience of the highest order utilising the a most traditional and delicious menu. The service is truly magnificent, no having to hang around between orders or having the plates 'whipped' away from under you. Their timing is impecable. No junior member of staff asking if the foods OK before you've started the flippin meal or constant interruptions during the meal. The wine list is adequate for the type of dining it offers and if you want a particular wine, ring ahead ask and pay and it will be sorted, I do! ... The bill is unnervingly easy on the eye and pocket, making it a doddle to tip the maitre de or the waitresses... The food? Just perfect if you like a traditional 'nononsense' menu and aren't tying to impress your trophy wife or husband. If you're in Bridlington you'll be sorry you didn't take a table at my favourite restaurant. Go 'the lamp' Go!!

This is a bit of an old fashioned restaurant in the old part of Bridlington, itself not the epicentre of great food! However the service was excellent, the food very good and the pricing very fair. The special venison casserole was first class, the lamb good and the belly pork good. However be warned if you were contemplating a starter, the portions are large. Music this time was suitably subdued! I'd recommend if you have not been.

We took a local friend to the 'Lamp' whilst on holiday in Bridlington. What a lovely place! Though small, it was very cosy to visit for the first time, the ambience, quality and choice of food was amazing. In spite of a large group turning up for a celebration, the two ladies there made everybody welcome and dealt with everybody in a very friendly efficient way. Being situated on a little narrow high street in the 'old town' gave it even more charm. We will certainly return!

Thanks Tim for another excellent experience at The Lamp. Lovely rib eye and malbec as usual. The venison and lamb dishes were excellent too apparently. Hope to see you again soon.

We visited the lamp whilst in holiday last weekend. The food was nice, 3 of us had steak which was nice and tender just not very hot. Steak isn't usually what my son would order but there wasn't much else on the menu for him. The chips and veg were lovely. We asked for a kids menu to which the waitress said she would go and get one. She came back with no menu and said it was either nuggets or fish fingers. Luckily my daughter loves nuggets. I was shocked when we got the bill and saw the childs meal was £7.50. Which for just nuggets, chips and peas was far too expensive. We're too far away to visit again but if we were to visit Bridlington in the future, I doubt very much we'd return here.

My boyfriend and I come to The Lamp as often as we can and always leave happy! It’s easily the best food in Bridlington and the staff are so friendly and kind and can never do enough.

Treat yourself. I have been to The Lamp 8 times now - we go to Bridlington a couple of times a year and always go to the Lamp. Situated in Bridlington old town it is tucked away so you have to know it’s there. This is my favourite restaurant (I had a birthday meal there), the menu makes it difficult to choose (so many great choices), there is a treacle tart that is not something I would normally choose but it is amazing with its secret ingredient!! Really good wine list, fantastic atmosphere, good music, great service and very good value.

You cant complain about the style - which is very traditional - as seems they have been doing this for sometime with good experience. We enjoyed the experience here. The owner seems to have good control over all & gave us really pleasant service. The menu is not contemporary - but of good standard, All the dishes that came out arrived in good time & were well cooked in a traditional style. Good wine offering available & other drinks too. Its quaint, its friendly - our 1 & only choice for 1 night in Bridlington with no complaints. Portions sizes really decent & we struggled to finish.

Visited The Lamp on Friday evening (14th June 2019). This was our second visit as we discovered this fantastic restaurant the evening before and just had to go back before a second evening which was the last evening of our holiday. The hosts and staff are extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The service was superb and the food just fantastic. This time we had the duck and the belly pork followed by the white chocolate blondie and Yorkshire cheese board. The evening before we had the scallops and black pudding, fillet steak and the lamb followed by the white chocolate blondie and pear and raspberry frangipani. All of the food was truly amazing and the lamb is the best I have ever eaten. It was completed by the superb Leffe Blonde beer on draught. We highly recommend you visit this superb restaurant as soon as you can or when you are visiting Bridlington. Thank you to the chef, waitress and host.

We visited Thursday night and found the service was just right for us. Starters were a lovely salmon fishcakes with sweet chilli dressing for me and the chicken liver pate with melba toast for my husband. Mains were the gorgeous venison medallions for me and rabbit for my husband which came with side dish of vegetables which had been cooked just right. I had the amazing chocolate orange cheese cake and my husband had filter coffee. The portions were just the right size as I finished everything and my husband couldn’t quite finish all the veg and had no room for dessert! All in all an excellent birthday meal.

Went with no real expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, venison was so tender. Service was good. Will certainly go again and would recommend it.

We had decided to have a low key 50th Wedding anniversary meal here and being local had passed the Lamp on several occasions but never eaten there. This was a Sunday evening and we arrived early, so were the first in and had a choice of tables, choosing the conservatory. The menu was varied and interesting with some unusual choices. The service was excellent yet unobtrusive and the food was delicious. By the time we had eaten, the restaurant had filled up and the atmosphere was busy and relaxed. We can certainly recommend the scallops with black pudding, the venison medallions, perfectly cooked and tender and the duck legs confit. Yes, the place could do with some updating but the food certainly made up for that and we will definately be eating there again in the near future.

I booked this restaurant purely from TripAdvisor reviews prior to my visit. As it was a birthday celebration and I wanted somewhere special. The restaurant itself looks very warm and cosy - inside it feels like you are stepping back in time (due to old town location) Service was very prompt and the lady who served us was lovely. We ordered starters which were on the rather large side - both were delicious. My partner ordered steak & myself venison which were nice. Only criticism is the place lacked a tad bit of atmosphere for me. Also in addition my venison which was a (Male Deer) had a very strong flavour - which I'm used to a lot sweeter/subtle taste (again personal preference) Overall nice food, lovely waitress and restaurant. Worth a visit for those who enjoy a variety of different meats.
