Made a reservation for 11 of us after a football game this evening and Joypur were happy to have us.
We started the night with a couple of poppadums and pickle which went down a treat along with the beerios we had taken with us as it is a bring your own alcohol.
Starters brought out a selection for the team, including a mixed kebab (pictured) and chicken pakoras which received raving reviews throughout the group.
Everyone for mains went with forms of curry, myself choosing, shock, a lamb bhuna, chips, onion fried rice and a keema naan. A clean plate for everyone followed even though portion sizes were bigger than anticipated, and I must say the onion fried rice stole the show! Wow!
A group of friendly staff members, relatively quick food service and a nice environment makes for a quality Indian… and this has all of the above!
The only draw backs is the decor is dated but, who cares?

The atmosphere is only marked down as we went on a very quiet Thursday evening. The food was very good and the staff couldn't do enough. It is a BYOB place but they are more than happy to supply glasses & bottle openers etc.

Had the Monday night special menu, the food was amazing and excellent quality, the staff are friendly and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere

Food was nice. Did not realise they don't have an alcohol licence so if you want a lager with your curry, you have to bring your own.

Excellent in every way. Have been coming here for years. What sets it apart from so many similar businesses is that it doesn't keep putting its prices up and accepts card payments. Just about perfect.

Eat based upon reviews, one of the best curry’s we’ve had in a while.

That's a nice curry!
And no gluten used in anything except the breads! Very refreshing for my partner to be able to order anything she likes without worrying.
Good food all around, good service. The place feels quite classy without being extortionate. Really nice.

Great food and very friendly service. Different variety of dishes to choose from. Mild to very hot and even have traditional English dishes too. The starters were very tasty.

Great food and fab service highly recommend!

I turned up on a Saturday evening, no booking, & managed to get a table for 2.
The restaurant was busy, so we had to wait a few minutes between arrival/ordering & ordering/starter - but it was worth it.
Our food was really tasty, cooked well, & if the menu said "hot", it was!
The staff were attentive without being intrusive.
Prices were..... great! I pay half as much again back home for food that's only half as nice. The 2 of us had drinks, poppadums, starters, mains + rice + naan for less than £45.
One thing: Joypur doesn't sell alcohol, but you're welcome to bring your own.
Update on 5th December:
Back in town for a couple of days, & thought I'd try their delivery service, ordering through the website. It was easy enough to order & pay, and delivery was made within 30 minutes.
Food was piping hot (even the poppadums) & tasted every bit as good as the dishes we'd eaten in the restaurant a month earlier.

Did not even get as far as ordering food because of the rude staff treatment of us when ask for dairy free option. I feel their attitude could be potentially fatal for allergy sufferers as they do not take our request seriously. No thanks, will eat elsewhere at establishment who treat paying customer with a little respect.

Hmm dont fancy this place - shame, it looks quite nice but rumor has it they treat customers like crap! Mocking customers tut tut tut!! Bad idea! Will be avoiding at all costs!
Arron Porter
They need to rethink their customer service and learn to cater for dietry requirements/choices. Its not very often in this day and age, that you come across a restaurant that plain and simply will not try their best to accommodate you.
Dagmara Podsiadlo
Very rude and mocking customer service for a friend who just asked if they have plant based options. It's ok to say no, but instead she was bullied. Very immature and potentially dangerous for a catering business. Avoid.
Emily Cooksey
Rude, unprofessional, don't waste your time with this place.
Dannii Grundy
You'd have thought customer care would have been a higher priority...
Never mind, ill be going elsewhere
Fiona Jayne Friel
Unprofessional and rude to vegans/vegetarians. Disgusting.
Louise Rose
Awful treatment to a customer. If you treat your customers like trash I'd rather not come tbh!

IMPORTANT NOTE THIS IS AN ALCOHOL FREE RESTAURANT SO TAKE YOUR OWN.
Search along the road to find a) place open, and b) people inside.
This met both criterias.
There was a Wednesday night special of:
1. Single popadom with the chilli chutney, etc..
2. Various starters - I chose the mixed kebab.
3. various mains, but I wanted my chicken tikka madras rather than just chicken madras. They accommodated at no extra charge.
4. Coffee or ice cream - I decided against it, but for no other reason other than I didn't fancy having them. I heard someone pay a compliment on the flavour of the coffee, so it wasn't negative from my point of view.
Number two was fine, hot in temperature, but lacked the spice that i am used to at the Redolence in Redditch.
Number 3 was very spicy and very flavoursome. My only criticism was that it was chicken in a sauce. Whereas, again at the Redolence, theirs includes peppers, and onions, and just gives more body to the meal. However, I have to say i liked the sauce.
So all of this for £10.95, so not a bad deal really.
Not realising the very important point right at the start of the review, I accepted an alcohol free Cobra. It tasted like every other alcohol free lager. Sweet, and very heavy in the taste of the barley.
Really friendly staff, and really cared by asking for opinions on the food, and not the usual 10 minute check that you get at other restaurants.
If I went again, I'd be armed with my own alcohol, and I would eat off the main menu and ask more questions as to what is in the curry. Just sauce doesn't do it for me.
