Stopped at the Holiday Inn up the road and didn't want a hotel chain breakfast. So popped to the Compass and what a delight. Firstly the place was very clean, cosy and to be welcomed by a lovely gently dog sitting so well behaved on the sofa by the window. The breakfast was also delicious, I had pancakes, with fruit/maple syrup and bacon which were amazing, my son who is a vegetarian had a cooked breakfast which he said was the best he had tasted. We were also served by a lovely young lady who kept our coffee cup full (think we had 3 cups in the end) we stayed for some time, chatting and stoking Oscar, wouldn't hesitate to go back again, just wish we lived nearer.

We had a Saturday brunch and the food was terrific. The nicest pancakes this side of Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. Excellent coffee too. My son and husband loved their food.

Spent a weekend in Brighton and found this recommended online. Went in on our first morning and we were the only people there. Decor is lovely and vintage and staff were welcoming and friendly. We had our breakfast which was absolutely lovely and Oscar the dog is a lovely perk to visiting! We were talking and staff gave us pointers on where to visit and even gave us a link to discount tickets to attractions. Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff that we returned for our second day breakfast too and brought Oscar some treats. Staff were again as friendly as before and remembered us from the day before and were overjoyed with the gift of treats for Oscar. Would absolutely recommend for the food and service and hopefully one day will return

We visited based on the excellent reviews. We weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the pancakes. The service was just as good. Very friendly, attentive and helpful. We will definitely return!

We went for breakfast as a family and found it lived up to the high standard of reviews we found about it on Trip Advisor. The Jack and Jill breakfasts were delicious and it is rare to find somewhere that serves endless coffee but it’s a fantastic touch! The staff were very attentive and friendly, would highly recommend.

Walked past a couple of times, wandered well would have done, door is often kept locked due to the wind and keeps it cosy inside. A sign on the door at the front would be useful. Ordered two lattes, really good. Ordered two breakfasts, one with eggs more like a full English, second one pancakes egg and bacon and I checked to ensure bacon was crispy. Arrived, second one was wrong, just pancakes and fruit. Manager took back off the table and offered me eggs with it 3 times...or would do a new one. Didn’t want a new one as hubby would have finished his by the time it came out based on our waiting time. I said if you could just bring me bacon I’d have this one thank you. Unfortunately she rolled her eyes as going back out and I noticed....would have been nice if she’d said sorry for mix up, when the bill came was charged for what we had been served minus the bacon on the side. Even the assistant manager couldn’t apologise, just said well we’ve haven’t charged for the bacon...a shame, to err is human...

Great original food with decor to match. Not smack in the middle of Brighton’s tourist district but this splendid little place is worth walking a few more streps along the front. Love the place and the people who run it.

As someone who loves pancakes, this is the only place I'd go back to in Brighton as they have THE BEST pancakes in Brighton. Other stuff on the menu also looked delicious, but I could never resist the pancakes. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the drinks/coffee is fab too. Really nice, relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic all round.have been here with my partner, with friends, and with family- it always delivers.

We visited this restaurant after reading the good reviews on tripadvisor. It didn’t disappoint. Quirky interior with a resident dog lazing on the sofa in the sun - very cute. One of the owners, originally from New York, was very friendly and accommodating. Talked us through the menu and even sat with us at one point to discuss his life experiences and aspirations - all very fascinating. We enjoyed the food, especially the pancakes. I ordered the breakfast burrito which went well with the salsa sauce. Ditch the traditional English breakfasts and visit this diner - you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for hosting us!

We had lunch and tried the burgers, omg amazing, homemade Colslaw on the side, fresh salad, fries and the quality of the meat was 1st class. In fact it was all so good we returned for breakfast the next morning 😁. The best pancakes, light and fluffy, with scrambled eggs, and spinach. The hash is totally different breakfast but bursting with flavours and goodness. As always wonderful welcome and service, made our stay complete please don't leave Brighton without trying this food 💕👌

This place came at the recommendation of my father inlaw and it's a winner! The owner seated and served us for breakfast. He was welcoming and very accommodating. Especially as we were dining with a toddler, which can be 100% stressful 99% of the time. The decor is eclectic; a real talking point. I ordered the Hungry Man and my husband and father inlaw ordered the Meat Hash. Whilst we waited for our food we enjoyed their smooth coffee and in ture American style the free refills. It was that nice, I'm pretty sure we sunk 3 cups each during the meal. We all enjoyed our meals, although I struggled to finish mine due to the large amount of food. I did catch a glimpse of the pancakes at another customers table though and they're on my hit list next time we visit. This is a true American diner, not like the novelty replicas elsewhere in town and very much worth a visit.

My husband and I visited London for 8 days recently and our next to the last day there, we decided to take a day trip to Brighton by train. I searched on TripAdvisor to find good recommendations for lunch. It was a very windy day and we walked several blocks along the beach before finding Compass Point Eatery. When we arrived, there were no other patrons there and we asked the young lady if they were still open. She told us to please come in and yes they were still serving lunch. We did not realize they closed at 4 and it was almost 3:30. Cheri (sorry if I misspelled your name) was her name and she was very kind and let me taste a couple of wines and my husband taste a bear before we made our decision. We asked her about the menu and she told us the wraps were very good and everything was homemade. We chose a wrap to split because we had eaten a late breakfast. I was so glad we did split our meal because the wrap was huge! Everything was so delicious!!! The wrap was homemade (not the processed doughy kind). It was the best chicken wrap I have ever eaten! The "pig jam" that accompanied the wrap was a red onion marmalade and also very good! I don't even eat that many fries but I ate all of mine they were so good! The chef, Maris (sorry if I misspelled your name) came out to speak to us which we thought was very kind. Our whole experience there was wonderful and I now know how they got there high rating on TripAdvisor. If you are ever in the area, check out this great lunch and breakfast restaurant. You will definitely enjoy!!!

Found this place online and saw the GOOD reviews. Saturday night, very quiet what a shame for you.. Very friendly staff. Had burgers ,all excellent. Obviously freshly cooked as did not appear in seconds. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Returned on Sunday morning for breakfast. Greeted by a great dog, very serious looking. spoke with owner about our new pup and he proceeded to show all the customers a picture of it on my daughters phone!!! Breakfasts were great, i had the big breakfast and my wife and daughter had the pancakes. Good juice, tea and endless coffee. all excellent. will be back when we return to Brighton.

Nothing like the reviews indicated. Yes they have pancakes, huge, bland, flaccid things that gave me stomach ache afterwards. Staff are truly lovely but this is one restaurant I wish I had walked past.

Came here with my good companions for a hungover brunch on the weekend. We had all heard very good things about compass point but had never been before. As someone who is a breakfast fiend I have tried out a lot of brunches around the city, and it is a title I wouldn’t give out lightly but this is definitely the best breakfast I have had in Brighton! From the friendly service, the quirky interior, the beautiful dog on the sofa to the incredible food, compass point delivers on every level. We had 3x meat hash which was a sausage, an egg and some bacon on a bed of potato’s with Chili, onion and cheese in them - I would definitely recommend adding the hot sauce too as it complements the breakfast so well. All in all I am so glad that i found compass point and will definitely be back for another breakfast hash!

Stopped for breakfast had a great meal, delicious coffee, with one to take away. Very easy comfortable place with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I took some friends there for lunch later in the week, great fries and tasty burger.

Lovely and welcoming place with lovely people. The food was absolutely fabulous also, never had pancakes with bacon before this visit and it really exceeded the expectations, it was so tasty!! The place inside is lovely and clean and nice and homely feeling. I would always come again the next time I’m in Brighton, honestly such a friendly place and Oscar the dog was just adorable!

Doesn’t look much on the outside but looks were very deceiving. Lovely atmosphere inside, owner very friendly and bends over backwards for customers. My friend was Gluten free and they changed the oil for her sweet potato fries. All food freshly cooked and very tasty. Large plate of food. Serves American sodas too. Thumbs up from us.
