Semolina is a true hidden gem. Tucked away on a side street but as soon as you walk in you know you’re in for a treat. A small, intimate restaurant with only a few tables (so definitely book). The menu is perfectly crafted with pairings you question initially. But as soon as the food arrives and you tuck in...you know that it’s been carefully thought out. Great value for money! Lovely atmosphere. The staff are just wonderful! 10/10!! Will definitely go back!!

I went there because I followed all the good recommendations and I was not disappointed. There are a lot of great restaurants in Brighton but this one has something more. It's small, very cosy but the standards are as high as those of the bigger restaurants. Lovely service, absolutely amazing food. Everything on the menu is to die for. I'll definitely come back.

I have been staying in Brighton for 3 months and eating out regularly. Semolina is comfortably the best meal I have had in my time here. Excellent.

This is one of the best restaurante in Brighton, according to the price quality relationship. Great attention and Mediterranean food of great quality.

The menu was interesting, not the usual formulaic variations of burgers, chicken and steak. A thoughtful and interesting set of choices. Service was friendly and swift, without feeling rushed. Food was great. A very enjoyable evening.

Went to semolina with the same high expectations as before but left feeling disappointed. My partner and I went on a Thursday evening - as we entered the restaurant there were no staff ( even tho there were several other diners) we were left standing in the restaurant for several minutes until we decided to knock on the kitchen door to get someone’s attention! We placed our order with the waitress who was friendly - when the food arrived we were disappointed with the presentation ( it looked nothing like the photos above!) lacked in seasoning and flavour. Potatoes undercooked, squid over cooked and rubbery, pheasant dry and lacking in sauce - we could go on.........! It didn’t reflect any previous experiences. Not sure I’ll go back.

I don't live in the UK but go to Brighton for a weekend every year with a friend. We discovered Semolina last year and had the most fantastic meal so it was high on the list of priorities for our return to Brighton last weekend and we were not disappointed. We were thrilled that Marta, who served us last year, was still working there. Her joy for life is contagious. She knows the menu well and really gives superb service - very efficient and friendly without being too intrusive. Dexter (a new addition since we were last there a year ago) is behind the bar and knows his cocktails well - a very welcome addition to the team. The food is outsanding. Everything we've tried both times was fantastic and I am only sorry that it will likely be a year until I return but I can highly recommend and am so looking forward to going again - it remains high on the list of priorities for the next trip.

Lived up to the reviews on here and by mouth from acquaintances. An unpretentious restaurant with a warm atmosphere. The waiting staff made us feel at ease straight away and were attentive and friendly. We had partridge, venison and monkfish with risotto all cooked as you would expect. Most things seemed to be locally sourced. The menu changes every month and we are looking forward to booking next month! The cocktails were very good and, although I didn't check, I

Went with a group of friends. Had very nice meal there, everyone was pleased with their choices. Wouldn’t call it cheap but not very expensive either. Small restaurant so makes for a cosy feeling. Will be going back.

I don’t normally go to bed with this buzzing feeling of happiness therefore I need to share how wonderful was my all embracing experience at this place. I had dinner at this place for my first time on Friday 8th. November 2018 reservation for 2 at 8:15pm. Off to London road in a nice and quiet road called Baker Street, here you can find this little diamond. We get seated swiftly and we ordered from what it seemed a refined menu yet non conventional and easy to understand. The wine was delicious and married quite well with the fish dish I ordered. Perhaps I would have preferred more the a couple of choices of red or white sold by glass. The waitress was the most exquisite person in the restaurant. I went totally with her suggestion and “bang” the food was something out of this world. I had plaice on a bed of green and hazelnut. The commixture of flavours literally exceeded my expectations. Because I don’t want brag too much about it I can only say that it cost me £14 and I would have been happy to pay £35 for something so tasty, unique, alternative and well presented. Dessert was equal standard, serving chestnut parfait with flawless buckwheat tuiles and plums I choose this dessert as it reminded me of Chef Henri Brosi at the Dorchester Hotel in London, he used to do a similar dessert with chestnuts. I believe that chestnut is a very difficult ingredient to make it likeable and the chef at Semolina totally nailed it. Overall this is one of the restaurant going into my top 10 favourite in Brighton. Thanks beyond word for a looking after my table and turning a Friday evening into an excellent one.

Booked in advance for a birthday meal. The staff were wonderful and we asked for recommendations from the seasonal menu as we were hungry and everything looked fantastic. The food was fresh, beautifully presented and the kedgeree croquettes were an absolute triumph. The bistro was clean and cozy and the staff were so friendly it felt like dining with friends / family who also happen to be excellent chefs. Even though we had booked over 2 months prior they still remembered it was a birthday booking for my mother and decorated her dessert with writing and a candle - those little touches mean so much. Thanks for making this such a perfect ending to a great day out in Brighton.

We booked beforehand from Tripadvisor reviews and it didn’t disappoint! Very intimate place, service very attentive and the lamb chops were the best I have ever eaten! Best place we ate in Brighton on our mini break...

Found this restaurant on a Brighton top 20 restaurant list as number 9 so I had great expectations. It is a small restaurant, nice ambiance and friendly staff. As starter we had the mussels, terrine and cauliflower rarebit. Mussels and terrine were ok, the sauce on the cauliflower had a unpleasant sharp taste like an alcoholic drink had been added and the alcohol had not been cooked of. As mains the sea basse and the guinea fowl. The sea bass lacked taste, a bit of acidity would have helped. The guinea fowl was could have been cooked better, the skin was a bit burned and the meat not very tender, and the make-up of the dish was messy, I would do without the butternut mash, the sauce and mushrooms would be enough. The highlight was the greengage frangipane, really delicious. The blackberry and lemon square basically was a keylime pie on shortbread, the 2 blackberries were mearly decoration and the blackberry sorbet was bland. We drank the californian pinot noir, very nice wine. Potential is there but the chef needs to sharpen up.

Here is a bistro that gets it right in all departments. Swift and caring service without being obtrusive; good choice of dishes without being overwhelming. And when they come, which they do smartly, superbly prepared and presented. In short, a setter of high standards that many other might emulate to their advantage.

We both had fish cooked perfectly which is never as easy as it sounds. The lady owner was very pleasant and efficient. There were obviously several people there who were regulars. Will definitely return when next in Brighton. Menu changes monthly.

Have eaten here several times, and enjoyed all aspects. The restaurant is small and cosy, the staff friendly and attentive, and the food is special. The chef owner cooks well, and changes the menu regularly. Simple dishes cooked well, and nothing that is fussy or beyond the chef's ability - I wish more restaurants did that. The customers are regulars, and there is a pleasant atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, and the drinks menu is short and concise.

The chefs certainly understand the foundations of flavour. I have had some unforgettable dishes in there. It is a place where you can treat your loved ones, or if you want to have a special but very relaxed dining night.

These guys can cook! Every dish I ate was faultless and comparable or better in terms of quality, presentation and tastiness of more pricey restaurants in Brighton. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was cosy, intimate and relaxing. We will be back for the monthly menu changes!
